Should books that encourage honor killings be banned?
Or should there just be a warning about the harmfulness, like with cigarettes?
"But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found for the damsel: Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house"
-- Deuteronmy 22:20-21
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoDo you agree with this argument?
"You separate religion from your policies, contradicting the pure nature which affirms Absolute Authority to the Lord and your Creator. You flee from the embarrassing question posed to you: How is it possible for God the Almighty to create His creation, grant them power over all the creatures and land, grant them all the amenities of life, and then deny them that which they are most in need of: knowledge of the laws which govern their lives?"
11 AnswersPolitics7 years agoWhy do right-wingers denigrate the unsuccessful?
"He who wants to live asserts himself. He who cannot assert himself does not deserve to live. He will perish. This is an iron, yet also a just principle. The earth is not there for cowardly peoples, not for weak ones, not for lazy ones. The earth is there for him who takes it and who industriously labors upon it and thereby fashions his life. That is the will of Providence."
-- Adolf Hitler; from speech in Sportpalast Berlin (May 3, 1940)
"I am also religious, profoundly religious on the inside, and I believe that Providence weighs human beings. Those who do not pass the trials imposed by Providence, who are broken by them, are not destined by Providence for greater things. It is a natural necessity that only the strong remain after this selection."
-- Adolf Hitler; from Munich Löwenbräukeller (November 8, 1943)
What makes them think that way?
9 AnswersPolitics7 years agoDo you agree with this statement or not?
"If we did a good act merely from the love of God and a belief that it is pleasing to Him, whence arises the morality of the Atheist? It is idle to say, as some do, that no such being exists... Diderot, D'Alembert, D'Holbach, Condorcet, are known to have been among the most virtuous of men. Their virtue, then, must have had some other foundation than the love of God."
-- Thomas Jefferson; from letter to Thomas Law (June 13, 1814)
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoDoes the guy who said this sound pretty smart?
"The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish."
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoIs George W. Bush a "REAL" Christian?
Or if he is really a Christian, would he have sent innocent people to be tortured by our then-ally Bashar al-Assad?
Religious people always know who is REAL Christian and who is not right? (for example Hitler)
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoRobespierre wasn't a REAL Deist, because he did bad stuff?
And running a lot of innocent people through the shaving mill isn't what a REAL Deist would do. The Cult of The Supreme Being was just a cover then right?
Isn't this a completely fair and rational argument?
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoWhy do Christians need a special time of year...?

"I also have the conviction and the certain feeling that nothing can happen to me, for I know that Providence has chosen me to fulfill my task."

3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoA deep theological question...?
In Exodus 1:19-20 it says that the Egyptian midwives lied to Pharaoh, and God blessed them. But in Revelation 21:8 it says that all liars will be thrown into the Lake of Fire. So where did the Midwives go between the time God blessed them and the time that he throws them into the Lake of Fire?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoShould the rights of both these people be equal before the law?
"One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind."

3 AnswersPolitics7 years agoWhy didn't Hitler believe in spontaneous natural selection?
and instead believed in something more like the Parable of Talents?

4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoIf one is thankful as others suffer terribly, what does this say about one's character?
"In this hour, let us thank the Almighty who has blessed our paths in the past, and let us pray to Him: may He lead us forth onto the path of righteousness in the future as well."
-- Adolf Hitler; from speech in Eger (October 3, 1938)
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoWhy do we celebrate the Puritans, who tortured and killed for nothing?
Why do we tell kids in school that the Puritans came here for "religious freedom" when they whipped or branded people who held dissenting views, or sometimes even hanged them or pressed them to death with stoned under the accusation of witchcraft. Thanksgiving has to be among the most hypocritically portrayed holidays, don't you agree?
