The indoor lobby of my Condo building has a small planter filled with plastic flowers that are old, faded and quite frankly, nasty looking. I'm sure nobody would object if I dumped the plastic and filled the planter with potting soil and real flowers. Is there anything I can use that will last more than a few months? I don't want to have to make a monthly trip to a nursery to get new flowers.

Senator Jackson has mental problems and is getting out. know there are 2 qualified contestants for his U.S.Senate Seat. Mel Reynolds is running (Convicted Felon/Registered Sex Offender) and a nice man who lied about his employment record, which is no big deal. But the arrest for trying to bring a gun and ammo onto an airplane? Can't the Chicago black Democrats get a NON-FELON into Congress?

You may have noticed that gasoline prices are far lower than diesel prices. What you don't know is that cars that run on diesel fuel get 30-50% better mileage. Mercedes and Volkswagen (The #1 auto maker in the world) are the top manufactures of cars in the the U.S. and aren't getting the Congressional lobby to get diesel fuel at every pump.

Do people in Canada / Europe get gas mileage or do they get gas kilometerage?

I hate to admit this, but I just recently got turned on by movies in B&W that I would have never considered watching. Not only that, but movies from France, Italy and Japan from the 1930's-1960's. Yup, there are subtitles and no special effects and 'GreenScreen' computer graphics, but the stories and the actors make for an amazing 90 minutes of enjoyment.

Hint: If you want to give this a try, anything from Akira Kurosawa (Japanese/English subtitles) or Jean-Pierre Melville (French/English subtitles)- Try your local Library, they've got a DVD section waiting for you.

Now that many Americans are aware of Bain Capital Management and President Obama hiring one of their top executives, Jeffrey Zients to a cabinet position as director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and with Bain Capital executive, Jonathan Lavine who is one of President Obama's top campaign cash bundlers.

Everyone knows what I mean, when that bar of soap gets to be a sliver. You can't hold on to it, and there's not enough surface area to give a good lather. You toss it in the trash because it's useless. I'm not an environmentalist, but it seems like a waste of cash to use 80% of a bar of soap and toss the rest.

I think people are really getting turned off by the Republicans pandering to the religious right with abortion, gays, etc. and the Democrats who are beholden radical environmentalists and to the progressive caucus socialists. It seems like people aren't voting FOR candidate Romney or Obama, they're voting against the other guy.

I just replaced 4 heating coils on my electric stove that were at the end of their heating career and re-caulked the area between my tub and the tile walls. Total cost-$60. Should I send the receipt(s) to my landlord, or is this normal wear and tear that the renter is responsible for?

I live in a high-rise condo in Chicago and with the 75-85 degree weather we've been having, I'm getting antsy to plant my flowers and tomato plants in pots. Should I wait until the 'advised' planting month of May or can I get an early start? I spend about $25 on plants so if I lost them it wouldn't be the end of the world, but I'd rather not waste the time and money if they're likely to freeze.

I have a 40 GB. hard drive on my Toshiba laptop (300 MB. remaining). I'm nearly full and I don't know why. I recently deleted all my music files and cleared over 2 GB. of memory. I haven't downloaded anything since, yet my newly free memory is quickly evaporating.

Bonus Question: I know I'll need to purchase a new/larger hard drive, It's going to run appx. $150, and It seems that I'll need to pay another $40+ for hardware to connect the old and the new to transfer the existing programs. Can I rent this 'transfer kit'? I'm only going to use it once and it's going to end up in a closet forever. Thanks!
