what are the end products of beta-oxidation of a 22-carbon FFA?
i know FFAs make NADH and FADH2 and acetyl groups... but how many of each? and what would 22 acetyle groups end up with... how much CO2 and other end products of the Kreb's cycle?
1 AnswerBiology8 years agoelectronic music... name that song (or band)?
well there was one artist that was playing at the gym today.
it was electronic, not dubstep or dnb, there weren't much words.
one song had a few lines which i got "(we) don't remember" and "the morning/rising sun".
and the other had dead mau5's some chords as a intro/background, but it wasn't as choppy as that version, and it was a completely different song.
help?

When I try to run it, a message pops up saying: Sorry, but this program requires Direct/X 5.0 or newer to be installed on a Windows 9x system.
I have Windows 7 now, and used the troubleshoot progam to change settings, but even after downloading versions of Direct X from online, it still won't let me play my game :-(

if the equation is 9-t^2, you could add the integrals from 0-3 and 3-6, but i want to do it in one step. on the calculator, you can do nDeriv(abs(9-x^2),x,0,6) and you get the right answer because the absolute value brings the negative curve above the axis. but to do this by hand, evaluating 9t-(t^3)/3 from 0 to 6 gives the wrong answer. changing the - to a plus is also wrong. how can i do this by hand and get the correct 54 as an answer?

2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agodifferential equation > integrating to a natural log?
i'll write what i've done so far but i'm stuck at the end at the *****
so the problem was dy/dx= (x^2 + y x^2) / 3
and i separated the variables and got
(3 dy) / (1+y) = x^2 dx
i integrated both sides and got
3 ln(1+y) + C = (x^3)/3 + C
with the C brought over to the x side, it's still
3 ln(1+y) = (x^3)/3 + C
i need y alone, with no ln, so i raised what was written to be exponants of an e to cancel the ln's
e^ (3 ln(1+y)) = e^ ((x^3)/3 + C)
***********
i can simplify the x side to C e^((x^3)/3),
but what about the y side??
i have no idea because the 3 is there. without the 3, it'd be just 1+y.
so what do i do now?
4 AnswersMathematics1 decade agofind my algebraic error please?
f(x) = (x^2 + 400)^.5 + 60 + (1600 + (200-X)^2)^.5 when 0<x<200
f ' (x) = .5(x^2 + 400)^ -.5 (2x) + .5(1600 + (200-X)^2)^ -.5 (2(200-x)(-1)) = 0
find the values of x when this derivative = 0 (for a maximization problem listed)
(x/ (x^2 + 400)^.5) - (200-x)/ (x^2-400x+41600)^.5 = 0
x/ (x^2+400)^.5 = (200-x)/ (x^2-400x+41600)^.5
(x (x^2-400x+41600)^.5) ^2 = ((200-x)(x^2+400)^.5)^2
x^2(x^2 -400x +41600) = (x^2 -400x+40000)(x^2 + 400)
41600x^2 = 400x^2 - 160000x + 40000x^2 + 16000000
0 = -3x^2 - 400x + 40000
i get answers out of the 200 range. so idk. help?

2 AnswersMathematics1 decade agorelated rates calculus problem?
a heart attack victim has been given a blood vessel dilator drug to lower the pressure. for a short while after the drug is given, the radii of the blood vessels will increase by about 1% of the radius/min. According to Poiseuille's Law V=k r^4, what percentage rate of increase can we expect in the blood flow?
but i need the answer using related rates and derivatives please.
another answerer said:
for the second question on the blood flow rate, what is not clear to me, and maybe you have a better answer on this (if your specialty is in biology, pharmaceuticals or medicine), is if the increase in the radii of a blood vessel due to the dilator drug follows a population increase model (like in question 1) or a linear increase model. What I found out in either case outlined below, the rate of increase in blood flow is the same within a given level of accuracy for the first few minutes. to highlight this follow:
Population increase mode (or exponential increase):
r(t) = r0 * (1.01)^t, where r0 is the initial radii of a blood vessel.
V(t) = k * r(t)^4 = k * (r0 * (1.01)^t )^4
= k * r0^4 * (1.01)^(4t)
you can think of V0=k*r0^4 as the initial blood flow level before the drug is applied
therefore,
V(t) = V0 * (1.01)^(4t)
and the second term is the increase
Percentage Increase = ((1.01)^(4t) - 1)*100
For linear model:
r(t) = r0 * (1+0.01*t), where r0 is the initial radii of a blood vessel.
V(t) = k * r(t)^4 = k * (r0 * (1+0.01*t))^4
= k * r0^4 * (1+0.01*t)^4
you can think of V0=k*r0^4 as the initial blood flow level before the drug is applied
therefore,
V(t) = V0 * (1+0.01*t)^4
and the second term is the increase
Percentage Increase = ((1.01)^(4t) - 1)*100
For the first few minutes, both models will give similar results.
t (min) %
0 0%
1 4%
2 8%
3 13%
4 17%
5 22%
