I am an employee of a major restaurant chain. And as I was closing I was robbed and beaten till I knocked out. The restaurant has no security cameras, no security system, and not timer safe which left me vulnerable to an armed robery. I recently close my workers compensation case. And I wanted to know if I could open a personal case against the company for negligence. I live in California if that matters.

I have a friend who tried to steel some headphones at Costco (under 100 dollars worth) and she was stopped by security at the door. She gave them back the headphones to the guys. And then they tried to get her back into the store and she refused and she left. But they took a receipt from her from an earlier purchase that day that probably has all of her info on it. She got in her car and drove off. What can she be charged with if she did not actually take anything she gave it back? And she has no priors of any kind. And what should she do?
