I? I am me. A human being. Or at least I was last time I checked.
Sometimes when I am typing my hands will type something different to the intended word. Why?
Mainly if I intend to type a less common word that is very close to a more common word, my hands will automatically type the more common one. Why does this happen? Does it have a name? I assume everything my hands do is controlled in some way by my brain.
2 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoWhy does it bug me so much when my girlfriend gets wasted?
I'm mostly ok with it when I'm also drunk, but it really bothers me when she goes out drinking without me, or is drunk when I'm sober. I don't mind having to look after her, I'll do that happily whatever the situation (sober or drunk). And I totally trust her not to cheat on me with any other guys or girls. So am I just being controlling, or irrational, or what?
5 AnswersSingles & Dating1 decade agoHow can I motivate myself?
University student, halfway through 2nd year, no motivation, no will to get any work done, unable to focus or concentrate, to the point where I feel almost a few IQ points lower than I used to. Feel burned out. Sleeping badly. What can I do to get myself back on track?

5 AnswersInfectious Diseases1 decade agoCan I swap chipsets between laptops?
This is the situation. I have a brand new game that I've tried to play on my 1-yr-old laptop, but am unable to because the chipset is not supported. I have a totally defunct 3 and half-yrs-old laptop that nevertheless does have a supported chipset. Is there anything I can do?
Computer 1 is a Toshiba Satellite with Vista, Computer 2 (the RIP one) is an hp Pavilion with XP.
2 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoIncompatible chipset - what does it mean and what can I do?
Trying to play a game (EA's Rail Simulator), but it won't work, I got in touch with EA and apparently my problem is that I have a hardware incompatibility because my chipset is not supported. Their advice was not particularly helpful ("try installing it on a computer that is supported"), so is there anything I can do to upgrade/improve my chipset without major surgery?
2 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoRight, I've had it with Firefox 3. How do I get rid of it and go back to the previous version?
Also, is there any way of getting in touch with Firefox and letting them know? They're very small niggles that I'm irritated about, but they cancel out the positive aspects of the new version, and surely they'd be easy enough to correct.
7 AnswersOther - Internet1 decade agoWhy don't I stay signed in with Firefox 3?
I always like to stay signed in to Google and Yahoo on my computer, and before always saw my own iGoogle page whenever I opened Firefox. Now, since downloading the new version, it signs me out of everything every time I close it. What can I do about this, as it is extremely annoying?
2 AnswersOther - Internet1 decade agoShould dihydrogen monoxide be banned?
It's a deadly substance. Its danger to the environment can be seen by its presence in acid rain, and its contribution to the greenhouse effect--also, it's been found in almost every river and lake in the world, and even in tapwater! It erodes landscapes and speeds up corrosion of metals.
It also has dangerous effects on human beings--in large quantities it kills, and once you've become addicted to it, if you don't get your 'fix', you die! It can also cause severe burns. And yet, it seems to be used in every industry, and ridiculously, there are no laws against it being dumped into our water system.
I think we should all get together and ban this horrendous substance, before it's too late.
9 AnswersChemistry1 decade agoHave the World Cup hosts ever failed to qualify for the previous World Cup?
I know the USA only made it to Italia '90 by the skin of their teeth, but South Africa missed 2006 completely. Has it ever happened before? (well, I know Uruguay didn't qualify for the 1926 World Cup, but there's a good reason for that) Always assuming South Africa actually get to host 2010, of course.

1 AnswerOther - Football1 decade agoWhy do I trip over things more in daytime than at night?
I'm always falling over pieces of furniture, stubbing my toes, etc., in broad daylight; yet when I walk around my house in pitch blackness, I almost never trip over anything, no matter how fast I walk (I don't mean that I rush around during the day and inch my way forward at night, I walk at the same rate both times). Why do I suddenly seem more dexterous at night when I can't even see?

10 AnswersAstronomy & Space1 decade agoClock on my PC?
The clock on my desktop PC works fine when it's turned on; however, whenever the computer is switched off and on the clock automatically resets to 12 am, 1st January 1980. It wouldn't bother me except Gmail comes up with this ridiculous statement that says basically (paraphrasing) "According to your computer date & time we have not been invented yet, and therefore don't work." So every time I turn on the PC, I need to fix the date. I'm assuming that it has to do with the backup battery that keeps the clock going when the computer's off--can anyone give me alternate suggestions or advice on avoiding this problem or as a final resort replacing the battery? It's an old computer (runs Windows ME--enough said).
