  • Sims 2 Double Deluxe won't re-install?

I used to play this game, but deleted it by right clicking the icon in my Start Menu, and selecting "Delete." After the fact, I realized I should've properly uninstalled with Add/Remove Programs. Anyway, now that I want to use it again, it won't install. It gives me an error around 47% complete. Any help would be great. Thanks.

  • Why do babies suck their thumbs?

Even in utero, this reflex is developed rather early. Why is this? What makes babies want to stick their thumbs in their mouths?

  • Why isn't my camera uploading pictures to my computer?

Sometimes when I connect my camera to my computer (with the proper USB cable) it doesn't register. I plug everything in and turn the camera on, and nothing happens. Other times it works properly; the screen pops up and the pictures transfer accordingly.

What's the deal? Both the camera and computer are new, and obviously the cord works because I don't ALWAYS have this problem. Is there anything I can do to prevent this? It's really frustrating.

  • Songs about preparing to say goodbye?

I'm not looking for anything specifically related to death or relationships. I'm moving in three months and I'm already finding myself preparing to say goodbye to all of my friends and everything I've known for the past five years. Does anyone know a song that would be appropriate? About not saying goodbye now, but having to soon enough? Thanks!

  • What do you think of this poem?

    Last Try

I miss being your friend. Thoughts like this scatter me every once in a while when I can't refuse thinking.

Caught a few hours before awake and a morning drive. The trance music sleeps, its climax holds the peace.

Four hours from now I will enter noise. The objects of an institution will make me forget how beautiful the night can sound. But we can disregard that for now.

Because the minutes of relaxation are upon us. Don't waste seconds predicting your anxiety. These idle moments will be your tide in the black straits of restlessness. The persecution will echo.

Like imagination gripped us during discussions of my most personal works, I am reminded of the unconditional advice you used to amuse me with after I rejected personality and safe connections for the useless sake of upholding something that we all knew was never there. It feels like something was lost because your energy and life rewarded you with happiness and a legitimate chance to have partnership.

And so I'm a little blind, even though I will continue to roll and roll and roll and roll until the dice are caught for the last time, after my morning drive and sun clouds and visions of awake appear in a time we both can argue is unrestricted.

    If this was an apology.

There are things entrusted far more sacred.

    If this was a letter.

    Art would melt away.

The pencil broke everytime the narrator tried to sketch this frame. So he typed, and perhaps the metal belly of the spellcheck corrupted what he attempted to illustrate. But lessons always being learned, even after you've been exploited and stepped over for the last time, the next one won't recluse.

    Last try.

  • How do you interpret this poem?

I'd like your thoughts of the following poem. I'm wondering what other people's interpretations are? What's the author's motive for writing it? Who is it written to? What's their relationship? Is there hope for the two of them? Is this an apology from the author? What about the perspective change in the last stanza? General thoughts; I'm not looking for some scholarly review lol. I'm just interested to see what everyone else makes of it.

    It's called "Last Try"

  • Can pregnancy bring out new allergies?

I've never heard of this being the case, but I'm throwing it out there anyway. I've never sneezed so often in my life as I have in these past seven weeks. I know my body's going through a lot of changes but could this actually be one? Could I have found a new allergy? If so I need to figure out what it is because it's driving me crazy.

  • 6 1/2 weeks pregnant, loss of appetite?

I'll be 7 weeks this Sunday. I'm really feeling it already but thankfully I've had no morning sickness so far. I've been feeling nauseous, but never actually gotten sick. I'm just wondering if anyone else has lost their appetite at this point? It's only been a day or two but I'm really just turned off by food right now. Thoughts?

  • Where can I find a cute, cheap holiday dress in Ottawa?

There are soooo many places to chose from that I don't even know where to begin, and I don't have much time left. A lot of them are really expensive, too. Le Chateau, for example, is a personal favourite, but I don't want to spend $100. I know of a few outlet stores to check out, but does anyone know any definite places for me to check out? Preferably in the west end or downtown.

  • Looking for help with crocheting a basic baby blanket?

    http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=40%E2%80%A6

This is the pattern I'm using to crotchet a basic blanket. I've crocheted a handful of times, but it's been a while. I'm confused with something in the 2nd row: "Chain 4. Miss next (half double crochet, chain 2, half double crochet)."

Miss next what? If I miss the next half double crochet only to chain twice more, aren't I essentially just chaining six in a row? How do you skip an HDC when you're just doing a chain?

If someone could clarify this for me, that would be great! Thanks a lot!

  • Looking for help with a crochet baby blanket?

I've crocheted before but it's been years, so I need help with basics once again...

    Here's my pattern: http://www.bernat.com/pattern.php?PID=4017

The very first step is to Half Double Crochet (hdc) a chain of 143. Hdc is done by inserting the hook into the third chain. How many chains are you supposed to have in the first place? Also, how tight should they be? I'm afraid of it being so lose that it won't turn out, but at this point I'm struggling to even get my crochet hook into some of the chain because it's tight...

One last question: When doing a hdc, you're supposed to draw through all three loops on the hook but I only have two.

Any crotchet expert who can speak to me in layman's terms would be greatly appreciated. Once I get it going I'm sure I'll be fine, I just don't know where I'm going wrong.

  • Which song should I use for a wedding slideshow?

The Maid of Honour and I are making a slideshow for my brother's wedding in a few months. I'm looking for some song suggestions because the slideshow isn't entirely about just the two of them. The bride and groom each have a section of just themselves, growing up etc. Then there's family/pets, then friends, then the two of them together. It's basically the story of the two of them growing up individually, meeting, and getting to where they are today.

That said, we're looking for a few songs to cover everything. They don't have to be cheesy and romantic, they can be fun. They can be upbeat too, not necessarily the typical slow songs.

Good song or not, we're not using "I Hope You Dance." It's just too common in this sort of thing. Genre-wise, preferably country or rock but anything goes.

  • What should I make for my nephew?

My brother's fiance just found out she's pregnant. She's not due until May so I have lots of time to decide how to spoil him/her rotten. I'm thinking of making the baby something for when (s)he is born. Something for the nursery, maybe. The thing is, I'm not all that "domestic." The one thing I'm good at is scrapbooking, but that would be too easy. I'd like to surprise everyone and make something I've never done and prove that I've got it in me somewhere. Any suggestions for something sweet but simple?
