  • What is this movie I am describing?

I watched a movie when I was really young which I don't know the title to. Basically, there was this massive circular portal which was broken. This guy (archeologist guy, perhaps) fixes the portal and goes through it, taking him back in time. Unfortunately, I can't remember the main part of the movie but I remember the guy who fixed the portal decides to stay with the people back in time.

  • Why is 3 and 7 people's most favourite numbers?

I watch watching a YouTube video about what people's favourite numbers are. A survey of around 6000 YouTube comment were analysed, and the top two are 3 and 7, which was surprising and yet not surprising to me at the same time. The reason it wasn't surprising was that 3 and 7 are also my favourite numbers. However, it is surprising because I cannot explain why I, or indeed anyone else, likes these numbers. I just do. So I was wondering if anyone can give me an explanation as to why these two numbers are apparently people's favourite numbers?

  • Questions about Windows 8?

I am thinking of upgrading my Windows Vista desktop to Windows 8. I have decided this is the time as the price for a Windows 8 upgrade is very reasonable. Will I be able to carry my Windows Vista programs over in the installation? Secondly, when I buy and download the installation file off the internet when Windows 8 is released, how many computers can I install Windows 8 on? Lastly, do you think it is a good idea to install Windows 8 over my copy of Windows 7 on my laptop?

  • Windows 8 Release Preview on Virtualbox...?

Ok, so I wanted to try out the Windows 8 Release Preview on Oracle Virtualbox. My computer specs are OK, I have hardware assisted virtualization turned on and everything else that Windows 8 needs. I set up everything, but everytime I try to run Windows 8 on Virtualbox, I get stuck on the black screen with the word Windows. It never progresses past that black screen no matter how long I wait. What do I have to do to get Windows 8 to run?

  • Never watched Star Wars before...?

OK, so I have never watched Star Wars before, and my friends are, rightly or wrongly, horrified about this fact every time I tell them this. Are the films actually worth my time watching, and if so, should I watch the original series first and the prequel second, or the prequel series then the original?

  • Finished Skyward Sword quest; thinking about Twilight Princess...?

Ok so Skyward Sword was my first Zelda game and I really enjoyed playing it. I'm thinking about playing some of the older games now. Would Twilight Princess be a good place to start, and if so can someone give me a bit of background detail to the story (without spoiling too much :3 )?

  • Background to Legend of Zelda?

Ok, I have preordered The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. I am really excited but I have never played any Zelda games before. I know that the game is a prequel to Ocarina of Time which is the fan favourite I gather, could anyone give me a bit of background to the story (without spoiling it too much should I want to play OoT in the future)?

  • Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword or Mario 3D Land?

Both games are coming out on 18th November in Europe. I only have the funds to buy one of them; which one do you guys recommend I buy? Part of me wants to buy 3D Land because I loved the Galaxy series, but I've never played Zelda and I've heard this is the best one so far. I am genuinely in two minds because both games look awesome. Which one to buy?

  • What exactly are the words that Mario say when he finishes a New Super Mario Bros DS stage?

I know what he says in the Wii version : "Oh yeah, Mario time!" But I can never make out what he says in the DS version when he comes off the flagpole.

  • A question about timestamps in Yahoo Mail...?

I receive a spam message today which I was just going to ignore and delete, but I noticed that Yahoo Mail recorded it as being received on 1st July 2006. How can that be? Before anyone asks, it can't be a message I inadvertently marked as unread, as I created the email account in 2009.

  • Hard drive temperatures?

I have a software program that checks the temperature of my hard drive. It regularly goes over 60 degrees celsius and is now at 64. It has peaked before at 68 degrees, which is very hot. Is my hard drive operating at a safe temperature or should I seriously consider investing in a new fan or something similar to cool it down?

  • DRS - good or bad for F1?

Lets face it, while the FIA got DRS good in China and Malaysia, in Turkey it looked as if I was watching a Mario Kart race, not a Formula 1 race. The extra speed DRS gives is very noticeable. What are your views on it? Do you think it should stay, as it has made racing better? Or do you see it as just a gimmick, not real racing, which should go? Or would you change the rules regarding DRS?

  • To people doing AQA English Literature Spec A, old spec?

If, by some weird reason, you've read the poems by all four poets : Heaney, Clarke, Duffy and Armitage, which groups of poems do you think are better and why? Heaney and Clark? Or Duffy and Armitage. If you've only done one grouping, do you think you did the best one? Would you have preferred to do the other?

I like the poems by the poets I'm doing now, Heaney and Clarke, but I want to see the opinions of others as to which is better.

  • Screen broken due to brother..?

So, my dad bought a 40' Sony Bravia LCD TV a few years back. My 25 year old brother went into a tantrum about a trivial issue and threw a phone at it. The screen is now broken and all types of colors show up when it's turned on. My brother is going to have to pay up, but how much would it cost to be repaired and it is worth getting it repaired or buying a new 40' TV?

  • Maths help: algebra with logarithms?

A model for radioactive decay is y = x e^(-kt), x being initial grams of radioactive particles, t being half life, k being time in years and y being number of grams of radioactive particle after k years. A radioactive substance has a half life of 450 years. If 65 grams are present today, in how many years will 41 grams still be present?

Despite knowing some maths, I have no idea how to do these types of questions. Please show your method.

  • When exactly was An Inspector Calls written?

I am doing an essay on the play An Inspector Calls. However, I am unaware exactly when it was written. I know it was released in 1945. What I want to know was what month it was written in, and therefore whether it was released during the Second World War, or released after the Second World War, when the Axis powers had been defeated.

    Thanks in advance.
