Are there any mothers out there that have breast feed their baby and not have a period after 14 months?
My daughter is 15 months and I am weaning her. However, I haven't had a period since before I was pregnant. My doctor gave me a thyroid medication, but it didn't do anything. Waiting for a second opinion. Thanks for your feedback. We are trying for baby number two and this might be why it isn't happening.

I've gone over 2 years with a couple of my kids...it's normal. For details, read _Breastfeeding and Natural Child Spacing_ by Sheila Kippley. Her research showed that 14.6 months was *average* for return of menstruation for the group of women she studied.

YES!
With my first baby, my period returned at 10 mos. I got PG while still breastfeeding and had baby #2.
With my second, I was *tandem nursing* her and big brother and it came back after 9.5 mos. I got PG while sill breastfeeding BOTH of them and had baby #3.
With my third, I think it finally came back at about 16 months. I thought it was a rip off that when we were done having kids and DH was getting fixed, I finally got my longest stretch of no period! Oh well!
Instead of completely weaning, can I suggest that if she is night nursing, you try only weaning from night nursing and continue nursing during the day. For some women, that makes the difference and brings back their cycles. It's worth a try before resorting to complete weaning.

Well, I didn't have a period for like two years but it was because I got pregnant with my second while I was nursing and then didn't have one until I weaned him a year later...Good luck!

I am 8 months into breastfeeding and I'm still waiting on my period, too. I have been told this is normal for some women and to expect my period after I stop.

I was so hoping that breastfeeding would delay getting my period. My daughter is 4 months old. And I got my period last week : ( My one friend stopped breastfeeding at 4 months and did not get her period til her baby was 6 months old.

My good friend didn't have a period for well over a year either - mine came back after only six months and we both breastfed exclusively for one year.
Every woman is different! I also got pregnant while breastfeeding... Another friend was told to quit if she wanted a 2nd child...
Best wishes!

I don't have a period any more and my son is 18 months. But it is because of the type of birth control that I am on. It could be a medical problem, I don't know if you are using any type of birth control or not but that could affect it as well.

That's about how long I went without a period when I was breastfeeding my oldest son. I ovulated, got pregnant, and never had a period... just went from pregnancy to breastfeeding to pregnancy. So it's very possible that you are fertile. Are you checking your cervial mucous? Are you charting your basal temp? These are great indicators of fertility and something to pay attention to if you are trying to have another.
Good luck!

I didn't get my period for about 6 and a half to 7 months. As long as your breastfeeding you usually will not get your period

My periods contiinued throughout breast feeding but I have heard it's common for them to be delayed while you feed.
I think they'll return when you finish weaning. Good luck with no 2!
