  • Cerebral Palsy-my 4 year old has it?

    Hello,

My four year old son Shaun has ataxic cerebal palsy (this means he walks with a very wide base of gait) and also has very very tight musculature of his lower limb, particularly his calf and hamstring muscles, meaning he finds it even harder to walk, he still manages often though.

He is due to start school in September and I am very very concerned, he is one of 4 (he is one of triplets-2 boys, Theo and Shaun and a girl Poppy and I have another son James), and his brothers and sister take amazing care of him, and the support and love they have for each other is amazing.

Anyway back to my question-are there any other mothers of CP children out there who can recommend any tips for helping him get on at school, I don' treat him any differently at home than his brothers or sister but I know how cruel school children can be!

Poppy was also born with clubfeet and a botched operation lead to her only having proper use of one of her feet.

  • autism-what are the signs?

I remember reading somewhere that a classic sign of autism is that children have no interest in other children their age or of any other age and that manifests itself in the first two years. My 16 month old son is behaving like this - he is one of triplets and while his identical brother and sister are very close he shows no interest in them or his 5 month old sister.

He also seems to despise being hugged in anyway - even when he was much younger and has now begun to hit his siblings if they try to hug him.

When he is walking he also jeeps primarily to the walls-i read that this could be a sign because by walking around the walls he avoids touching anything.

If anyone has an autistic child and recognises these symptoms and could offer any help or can just offer nay help in anyway it would be so appreciated thanks

  • Why do people on here?

Always assume that when you say you are pregnant or that you think you are they think you are unmarried and living off benefits or don't want the baby?

  • Could I be pregnant again?

I'm 2 weeks late for my period and have taken a test which says negative. I have 14 month old triplets and a 3 month old already. My friend (who is a midwife) told me that each time you fall pregnant it increases your chances of getting pregnant again quickly. I do use protection tho. Is it possible that by having two pregnancies so close together I have messed up my mentstrual cycle?

  • major help needed!!?

my younger brother (who lives with my husband and i) has just been expelled from his school after several warnings and aprt-exclusions - he is 15 years old and 6'2, i am 24 and only 5'3. He moved in with my husband and i when he was 13 after a few years in foster care. He behaved badly then but nothing compared to how he is now - if allowed out he will drink heavily and take drugs, if he kept in he attempts to hurt me and his little neices and nephews (who are one years-triplets and 5 months old). he frequenlty threatens me with physical violence and as he is far taller than me i am honestly frightened!!

i have no clue what to do about this situation - i have to take care of my babies but i know i need to take care of him too - the school recommended therapy but when i told him he had to go he pulled a kitchen knife on me.

My husband is working lots nowadays and so am i to support our family.

    does anyone have any advice

  • Are reigns safe?

my one year old triplets have started walking and i would like to give them a bit more freedom when we are out - for example if we go shopping i want them to be able to get out of the trolley or something - so my husband and i have been discussing using those special harnesses you get for young children so they could still wonder and explore but safely and within seeing distance.

However they all had pretty bad colic and my daughter was even operated on for pyloric steonosis so i want to know if they are safe for young children to use

  • anyone ever noticed this?

i have one year old triplets and a three month old and its fascianting to watch how my triplets (shaun, arran and ruby) interact with my baby daughter Molly Sophia. My best friend also has a one year old who, when she brings him over, is just awestruck at wee Molly!!!

has anyone ever noticed this with babies? Is it just extreme curiosity?

  • was at a mother and toddler group today...?

and was chatting to a woman the same age as me (24) and were talking about pregnancy/birth/and bringing up the fact that we both have four kids under the age of 5. As you do we had a wee moan to each other - sleepless nights/breastfeeding and the like. An older woman (who i know to be 48) then turned around and snapped at me telling me i should be grateful that i have four as she worked all her life and then found it difficult to concieve at her age (at the time she was 44) and ended up having to adopt so i have no right to complain when i have had babies young and she will have to pay all my benefits now - HOW WRONG IS THAT?

p.s I am fully qualified and working podiatrist with a first class honours degree and i work pretty much full time to support my young family along with my husband - i feel very put out by htis womans comments

    wouldn't you?
