  • Mandatory overtime in NY?

The nursing home I work in has started a dot system. When our 28 day schedule came up last week, the LPN'S had 6 days on their work schedule that were dotted. The CNA'S had 3 days dotted. This is considered mandatory overtime. If someone on the next shift calls off work, the person with the dot on that day has to stay over. We want to know if this is legal or not.

  • If a nursing home is fined during a state inspection?

Is the person responsible for the error also responsible for the fine? Doesn't the nursing home have to pay any fines that occur during state inspections? My work place is telling staff that if the survey team finds an error, the staff member who made the error is responsible to pay the fine. We are in New York State.

  • I live in northern NY and have lots of grapevines. In June the vines are loaded with grapes.?

By early July they start to dry up and turn brown. This has been happening for about 7 years. Before this happened, they were producing lots of grapes in the fall. Anyone know what causes this and what I can do to get a good crop of grapes again?

  • Is the Chinese video of the dogs and cats in crates being killed for fur legit?

I just saw the video of hundreds of dogs and cats being thrown to the ground in crates from large trucks. I understand that the fur of these animals is sold and possibly sewn on clothes sold in the US. I am appalled and extremely saddened by this video. How can we stop this horrible, horrible cruelty??

  • Does my daughter qualify for military benefits?

My wonderful son-in-law served in the USMC. He served 3 tours in the Middle East. And we are all so very proud of him. He was honorably discharged in Dec. 2008. Unfortunately at the age of 35, he passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 12 of this year. He left my 30 year old daughter a widow and I am trying to find out if she is qualifies for any military benefits. At this point she is not thinking about any of that, but as a mother, I am. Could anyone help me with this? Thank you.

  • I dream of someone special that has passed.?

I often dream of someone who once was a huge part of my life. He passed away almost 4 years ago. I like dreaming of him because I feel I am still spending time with him. A couple of nights ago, I dreamed he was in the hospital very sick. I woke up feeling that he is not resting and I need to do something for him so he will finally rest. This may sound crazy, but it was such a strong feeling and I cant shake it. Anyone know what this means or what I am supposed to do? I have let go of this, although I think of him often and miss him very much. I am not a child. I am 58 years old.

  • A 1899 marriage license framed?

In all my years of moving, I found in a basement a marriage license dated 1899. It is beautifully decorated and framed. There is a crack in the glass on the bottom and a little water stain on the document. I tried to find the desendents of the people stated on the document to no avail. Anyone know if this may be something that may be of value?

  • What could a swishing noise be?

For many years, I have been hearing a swishing noise in my head. No kidding, I'm serious. I have been through every test you can imagine and the Drs. are stumped. They have no answers. I have no other symptoms, just the swishing noise every so often. Does anyone else experience this? By the way, the Dr. says it has nothing to do with any ear abnormality.

  • What is going on with my fig trees?

I have two fig trees that I started in large pot holders last year. In the summer, they had gorgeous leaves which fell off in the fall. I live in upstate New York, so I brought them in for the winter. They are covered with beautiful green leaves again and I am quite surprised because I was told leaves would not appear again until summer. Will they lose the leaves again like they did in the fall? Not sure what to expect.

  • Anyone out there tried the green bags?

I bought them and am extremely disappointed in them. Any produce I put in them whether its fruits or vegetables DON'T last any longer in my fridge or counter. In fact, I think that the lettuce turned brown faster in the green bag than in a regular plastic bag.
