  • Have you ever considered the unintended consequences of hatred?

It seems to me that all religions increasingly rely on hate speech to motivate thier masses. Be it crazy pastors in the US having burn the Koran days or Imans preaching about the evils of the West in Friday prayers. And sadly if its "our religious leaders" speaking it, too often we turn a blind eye. We are now seeing the sad consequences of that speech in Pakistan.

this hatred for people they have never met let SOME in Pakistan turn a blind eye to the harboring of mass murders (even when they slaughter more of their on than the object of their hatred) and now its keeping thousand around the world from helping people that are victims of a natural disaster. And we are all to blame. We have let people seeking power and or/wealth use religion and God/Allah not too do what he said...LOVE ONE ANOTHER, but hate. This is a natural disaster yes, but the tragedy that will continue to unfold because of our hate...that's man made and babies are dying while we argue about whose fault the state of the world is.

In the end it seems the only thing religion is succeeding in doing today is uniting us in our hatred. Let it go do what God actually told us to do...Love... even if its only for enough time for you to give to (a reputable charity) the people of Pakistan.

  • What do you think of syria banning the niqab?

    http://muslimvoices.org/syria-bans-niqabs-school/

On the heels of France moving toward an expansion of its ban on certain types of Islamic dress, in public, Syria recently banned the Niqab in public schools. I think Turkey is also banned the viel in public schools.

I hear lots about these moves in teh West but I am curious if these movements within the Islamic nations upset Muslims as much.

Also, do you all ever notice that though Europe is debating this there has been no real movement in the USa.

  • What is your opinion regarding this? I am curious?

How do you feel about the debate over building a mosque at Ground Zero the sight of the attacks on 9-11? Some are asking the government to step in and prevent construction though it has been approved.

Personally, as an American who though I disagree with many of the practices of modern Islam I find this shameful. This country was built on the notion of freedom of relgiion, meaning this would clearly be illegal.

I would like your thoughts on this issue..and NOT whether or not 911 was done by Muslims. I know most of you do not believe it was. It was either a CIA Mossad plot or those men werent really Muslims cos of what they did. I have heard it all before. Stick to the topic please.

I really want to hear Muslims perspective.

  • Did I read more into this than I should have?

ok, couple of weeks ago and ex bf from way too many years ago got in touch on linked in. we chatted on the fone a couple of days later. He expressed that he had a hard time getting over me and for years compared other women to me. surprising conversation as he wasnt that nice to me when we dated but ok. He also spent quite a bit of time telling me how successful and rich he is. In the end we caught up and I wished him well in life. He lives in Atlanta and is married with 2 kids.

Now today he called me and told me he is in town on business and asked me out for lunch or coffee. I told him I had plans and couldnt. He pressed me as to why I wouldnt meet him. We chatted a bit, he starts in again about how special I used to be to him blah blah blah. He kept trying to figure out why I wouldnt meet him for coffee or something. Annoyed I finally told him, given our history and the fact that he is married I didnt feel it was appropriate given he is a married man. But he says this is MY chance to put a period on our relationship (after 23 years?) and this is the last time HE will as ME ever. I asked him if his wife knew about his plans...not but he will tell her and if she has a problem thats her problem.

I guess now I wonder if I overreacted. what do you think?

  • im participating in Everyone Draw MOhammad day?

    Whose gonna kill me?

    1 AnswerRamadan1 decade ago
  • Ramadan your opinion...four days?

until Everybody Draw Mohammad Day. As I am sure you know in response to what many consider continuous attacks on our Freedom of Speech, there is a grassroots movement to Draw Mohammad and post them on the internet on May 20th. What do yo think the response of the Islamic world will be to this event? Do you think they are going to react violently to random Westerners or those they think are Westerners?

  • Rima Fakih - Miss USA Pageant?

How do you think this is going to go down in the Muslim world. The first Arab (Lebanese) American Muslim woman will compete in tommorrows Miss USA pageant. She has to wear a swimsuit? How do you think the Muslim world will respond if by some miracle she wins? Will it be a source of pride? Will she be condemned? If condemned for what, showing her hair or competing in a contest called Miss USA.

For the recorde, I think that beauty pageants are ridiculous and women should aspire too be more than cute...but its a losing battle since thats what men want, cute women...Anywho curious to see your answers. here are her pictures...she is quite a beauty.

  • things that make you god HMMM?

After mapping the genome of neanderthals scientists have found:

"all non-Africans - be they from France, China or Papua New Guinea - share the same amount of Neanderthal DNA, suggesting that interbreeding occurred before those populations split. The timing makes the MIDDLE EAST the likeliest place where humans leaving Africa and resident Neanderthals did the deed."

I mean if the interspecies mixing started in the mideast, do mideasterners have the most neanderthal in them? Could that explain their violent aggressive tendencies and that of the regions predominant religion.

Ok I am joking...but I am sure one of you sensitive nellies will report me...I got my laugh for today thats worth 10 points!!!

  • Honest Muslim or Misinformed Muslim?

This is that case of the french Muslim with 4 wives all living off the state. Here is his response to threats of revoking his citizenship. He said:

"As a full-scale political row broke out over the matter, Mr. Hebbadj held a press conference yesterday to say he had four mistresses and he did not believe that having a mistress -- especially in France -- was illegal.

"If we are stripped of nationality for having mistresses, there would be a lot of French people stripped of nationality," he said in Nantes, western France.

"As far as I know, mistresses are not forbidden, neither in France, nor in Islam."

my question is NOT about that. Revoking his citizenship over this is ridiculous...he is a bum...thats not a reason to kick a person out of the country.

My question is, is he just revealing some truth. Adultery by a man is not illegal in Islam? Or is he misinformed...he doesn't seem that bright. This is a perfect opportunity for all you that love to cut and paste from websites...have at it!!!

  • Ramadan did u know women were this powerful?

Iranian cleric blames earthquakes on promiscious women. Read this have a good.

In the interest of full disclosure, Christians are not immune to such idiocy. A prominent preacher here blamed Katrina on gays.

oh if these men spent as much time helping the victims of Natural calamities as they do on blaming them on the dispossessed and oppressed. Amazing!

  • So you love Jesus...?

So I found this gem today?

"Police have registered a case against the publisher and seized around 123 books carrying an "objectionable picture" of Jesus Christ holding a cigarette in one hand and a beer can on the other which has sparked a controversy triggering condemnations from various quarters. (Link w/ photo below). The local archbishop has condemned the publisher and some stupid people (christians I assume have vandalized things)."

I have had many Muslims (friends, acquaintances and, people trying to dawah me) tell me that they as Muslims love Jesus more than anyone, Christians included. If so, where are the fatwahs against this publisher? When are we going to see Muslims out protesting this horrible depiction of this dear "prophet" some Muslims claim to love more truly than everyone else? Where is the outrage Muslim world...Isnt this an insult to you also?

  • SOME Muslims like to say they?

"We" love death more than "you" love life. Couple of questions about this..

    Who is "we"?

    Who is "you"?

If this statement is soo true why do you get so mad when others help you achieve what you love so much? Shouldn't you be thankful to them since you love it so much? Or is it you love it when you control when it happens (which doesn't happen to most people) and you can inflict as much pain as possible when you bring about what you love so much.

Im just wondering. Think about it seriously, its a really good question after you get over your obligatory outrage.
