  • What would attract flies to a wall?

The external entry to my house attracts flies. Not little ones, but big black ones. Heaps of them. Think Ammytiville Horror. They never try to enter the house when I open the door, they just seem to eat the walls. I can't see anything on the walls that would attract them, they appear the same as every other external wall of the house, but it is the only place they go. The garbage bins are around the other side of the house.

We have only lived here for 3 months so I don't know how long it has been a problem, it seemed they appeared as soon as the weather warmed (southern hemisphere). Bug sprays work temporarily. I really want to get rid of them, so I need to know whats bringing them so I can figure out how to change it so they don't come.

  • Strange noise form the fridge?

Our fridge is about 8 years old (I think) and lately it hasn't been working as well as it should - occasional ice blocks being liquid rather than solid, milk not tasting as cold as it should, etc...

It started making a really strange noise a little while ago,, a whirring like a plane starting up, or the washing machine spinning. The noise went for about 10minutes, stopped suddenly and about 10 minutes later restarted. The freezer door was open at the time the noise started. I can't move the fridge to turn it off at the power. Anyone know what the noise could be and how to stop it? It's freaking me out...

  • How long does it take to get pregnant after miscarriage?

I was pregnant just before the New Year, about 2-3 weeks. A miscarriage started at a level of hcg of 26. By the 2nd of Jan it had dropped to 4. I still haven't had a period, and I normally have a 21 day cycle. I did a test today (23rd) and it came up positive. Would this be residue levels from the miscarriage, or am I pregnant again? I have been trying, but didn't think it would happen so soon. Can anyone help?

  • Looking for a song, It's been a thousand years...?

Hi, can anyone tell me the name and artist of this song. As far as I can recall it goes like this:

    "It's been a thousand years,

    A thousand years,

    Since I saw the sea,

    Since you saw me,

And I will not walk away,

No I will not walk away,

    I will not,

    Walk away.

    It's been a thousand years,

    It's been a thousand years,

    Since I touched the sand,

    Since I held your hand,

And I will not walk away,

No I will not walk away,

    I will not,

    Walk away...."

  • Does anyone know what was going on at the Barton Highway (Canberra) Sunday 12th August?

Apparently there had been an accident, but for some reason the SWAT teams showed up with rifles or shotguns and the police were searching vehicles trying to enter Canberra at Kuringa Drive. They were there for hours. I'm really curious to know what was happening, I feel if someone or something was entering Canberra that needed that much security the public should be told...

I can't find any info online.

  • SPOILER ALERT HPDH - Please don't read if haven't read Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows. Was it familiar...?

Was it a little too familiar to anyone else in the Kings Cross Station scene? As I was reading I had a very clear image of a very similiar scene in a movie. I can't remember which one. Now, I was very tired, I had read the book in one sitting, and there is a chance my mind was playing tricks on me, but I am curious to see if anyone has seen this (if my mind is not making it up...). It involved a creature beyond help, it involved an old man and a younger boy/man and it was deffinitely a train station (but dirty, not clean like in the book) and it was a waypoint between living, heaven and hell. I think it was subtitled - so in a language other than english, therefor probably not Australian, English or from the US...

Has anyone else seen this movie, or have the same feeling as I did?

  • Hot tasty lunch for a 10 and a half month old? Any ideas for something new?

Normally my daughter has defrosted frozen fruit (I buy a bit of every fruit on offer at supermarket fresh, puree most of it, pick a feature which I chop so it gives it a chunkier texture, freeze down) or a vegemite and cheese sandwich. It's very cold today, and I want to give her something warm. Any ideas apart from grilled cheese and veg?

  • WOW! Abortion seems to be the hot topic right now, why don't we get back to basics and educate about safe sex?

I mean really. We are talking about something that can be prevented from ever occuring. Why is safe sex not the foremost arguement on this topic. It is all well and good to argue the points of pro life and womens choice, but what ever happened to prevention being better than a cure (for lack of a better word - I do not actually see abortion as a cure, I understand it is the completely wrong context). And, I am so sick of seeing these posts blaming the whole thing on the women. Condoms are available in the MENS rooms, why don't men wear condom? My goodness, it's appalling. Why are people risking the spread of STDs? Why aren't they taught about condoms? Then we wouldn't need to have these arguements about unwanted children. Who is willing to talk safe sex, as opposed to the pros and cons of abortion?

  • Does anyone know what could have caused this strange event?

Last night as I was laying in bed, half way between awake and sleep, I had a massive feeling of dread wash over me and I started crying. I told my fiance to check on our daughter, she was fine. I really thought something had happened to her. That was at 2 o'clock. Then, when I woke up, I worried it was someone else I know, so I sent a message to my best friend asking her if she had heard anything wrong on the news and explaned why I was asking. She emailed me back, and told me that she was also half asleep aat the same time, had the feeling of dread, and crying. She was very worried for her dog, who is like a child to her. I'm really freaked out that we both had identical experiences, does anyone know what this could be about?

I have absolutely no eason to doubt my friend.

We recently have been discussing staying overnight in a supposedly haunted room in an old building. The woman who haunts the room, may have been pregnant at the time of her murder...

    More info if asked...

  • Is American Idol subliminally lowering the iq of its viewers?

I am finding this easy to believe due to the fact that so many people ask the exact same, or very nearly same, questions. Every week, there are numerous questions based on "who got voted off American Idol tonight?" Really, 1 would have sufficed. This week there are multiple "How does it make you feel?" in relation to the one who was voted off tonight. Some of them are veiled with "Does it make you happy?", I hope no one minds unmarked spoilers. I just do not understand why so many people wish to lose 10 points to ask the same question that 50 or more people have already asked.

I am sure at normal times these people are not so incomprehensible. There for, I ask everyone, is American Idol doing this to them? Is there somenthing in the show which makes them not just have to find out the person going home before they would normally be able to, but also give the show so much free publicity that it becomes the most annoying television show to the magority of the the Answers community...

  • M.S. Excel question re. How do I get my Data Val. constraints to appear at time of data entry thru a form?

The data validation I have is that the enrty for certain fields must be through a drop down list. How do I get this drop down list to appear on a data form, at the moment anything can be entered in these fields when using the form, so it is all the same they need to pick it from the list so the formatting is not changed. You need to enter something off the drop down list when entering directly into the field...

  • SPOILLER ALERT - Can someone explain the plot of Silent Hill to me please?

Ok, these are the problems I'm having. If Rose and Sharon died in a car accident towards the start of the film, why are their bodies missing? The male cop tells the dad that the car is just at the end of the bridge - if they are ghosts in a 6th sense twist, why do they not find the bodies? Why is Alyssa's mother able to control the reaper? That is, why does she give the creature with the pyramid helmet a nod so he kills the red head? And how is Officer Bennett drawn into this purgetry (sp.?) when she should have gone to whatever afterlife awaited her? Plus, the male cop appears to be the cop who rescued Allyssa, is he meant to be the same age he was years ago? Are there infact two purgetrys, the dad and male cop in one, everyone else in another, and the last scene with living people the fathers trip to the bridge? Is this confusion due to me just not getting it, or is it the result of attrocious editing? Does anyone know what the original story line was?

    Any help appreciated.

Ok, my problem is this. I want tot create two tables, where the relationship between the tables is the primary key on one table, referencing multiple entries on the other. An example is, I have a table of attributes, and a table of people. The people can have multiple attributes. In my attribute table they have a unique (PK) number and a description. In my paople table I want to list the attributes with yes no check boxes, and then through cross reference create a report and form with attribute descriptions. Can anyone help?

  • Do I deserve a brownie point?

I recently got my first "what movie is this" best answer, and I didn't hav to research it on the net (the answer was Return to OZ). Then, a few hours ago I walked into my lounge room, saw a prime mover (oz name for semi trailer) pull into an alley - straight up I said Big Trouble in Little China, afterwards it panned to Kurt Russell in driver's seat. It has been about 20 years since I saw either of these movies. Do I deserve brownie points?

  • Why cheat so obviously?

Why do people obviously cheat by putting in one answer (a wrong one) straight off the bat, then wait for the other answers to edit their answer, copying the answers given later, and appear to be first off the bat? I think it's terrible, and I know who you are, those who have done this to me...

  • Can any one tell me what's wrong with my computer? Not sure if it's a virus, hacker or malfunction (or combo).

Ok, this is what's been happening. I'll be in the middle of doing something, and will suddenly lose control of my cursor. My mouse will not move it and it moves itself. Originally it caused no real problems, just opened the start menu and annoyed me because I couldn't do what I was doing. In order to regain control I have to press Ctrl + Alt + Del to bring up Task Menu. Only once have I seen an unknown program listed, it said "100% complete" before promptly disappearing. More recently it has been opening Paint, resizing program windows, closing Internet Explorer, and selecting Easy-WebPrint. It occurs at random stages during sessions on the computer. What could this be? I would appreciate any help, so I do not have to take my computer to my expert where I will have to leave it for two weeks, as they live out of town (two weeks without computer? I don't know how I'd go for two days!). Thanks in advance...

  • The purpose of Homework Help - What is it?

I have alwasys believed this category to serve a purpose of helping students do their homework, not to do their homework for them. Last night I recieved a violation for answering a question. This is the question : Some more questions I need help with (please give me answers only and correct answers please)?

This was my answer : Give you answers only? No, do your own homework.

I answered that way, because I felt the person questioning was using Homework Help to do all his work for him. I thought the best answer he could get was to do it himself so he would learn. If he had not stated answers only I would have been happy to show him how to work it out.

Have I violated the guidelines/ terms of service? I have read them and I can't see where I have broached them. Surely the asker is breaching them as he plans to pass our work off as his own.

I am therefor left with the opinion that YahooAnswers set up Homework Help to do the work for them. Please tell me I'm wrong.
