  • What parts do I need for a replacement Samsung LCD LED TV stand?

We have a 32" Samsung LED LCD TV model UN32D4003BD. It was wall mounted but now we'd like to move it onto a desk thing and can't find the base/stand that came with it. Looking on http://www.samsungparts.com/Products/Parts_and_Acc... there's a lot of different screws and we're not sure which ones are needed. Can anyone help out? It seems like it's going to be expensive and we don't want to spend extra on stuff we don't need.

    Thanks!

  • My brother's company is based in TX but has him working in PA. Does he have to pay PA state taxes?

So my brother works for a company based in Texas and had only done work in Texas. Last year, they sent him to Pennsylvania for most of the year to do some work up there. They paid for his housing and expenses while he was up there.

Now, I'm not sure if he has to pay state income taxes in Pennsylvania. I'm using TurboTax and it didn't prompt me to, but it never asked where the work was done, just where he lived. According to the guidelines TurboTax has, his residency was in Texas.

I've done taxes for years and have taken a few tax classes, but we never had to do state income taxes. TurboTax has a $40 thing to download to help file them, but I want to make sure it's what I need before dropping that money on it.

I've done a lot of searching online and all I can find are people living in PA and working in other states or something like that, not the situation my brother is in.

  • What's the best router I can buy for around $50?

I recently moved and bought a Linksys WRT54GS2. I got a Sprint AIRAVE and it would not connect to it. Long story short, found out the router is defective and needs to be replaced.

Last time I went shopping, I saw Linksys has these new Valet models out that are kind of expensive. I don't need wireless N, G will be fine. I'm also a long time Linksys uses and generally like their products and I am familiar with how to set them up.

I need a new one, but there are a lot more models out now that there were last time I went router shopping. Any suggestions? I am a Apple "fanboy" and am open to an Airport Extreme, but they are kind of expensive.

  • What happens after the 12 months introductory price with Time Warner Road Runner?

I'm thinking of switching over to Time Warner's RoadRunner. I currently have expanded basic TV. Their website says for $80/month, for 12 months, I can get digital cable and Road Runner High Speed internet. That's just a little more than I'm paying now for regular cable and AT&T DSL...but I'll get speed twice as fast and that's more stable.

What happens after 12 months? Can I agree to another 12 months to keep the same price or am I stuck paying the higher price until I switch to another ISP?

  • What are some good but inexpensive cookware to buy?

I'm moving out on my own and need some cookware. I'm not a heavy cooker, but I do cook occasionally and would like some decent cookware. I've done some research and I'm pretty sure I want to try this stainless steel stuff. In the past, we've used non-stick, but they get scratched up and you have to use flimsy plastic utensils.

I'm just not sure what brand to buy. All-Clad seems the best, but I don't want to spend that kind of money. I've seen sets by Paula Dean, T-Fal, Cuisinart, Farberware, Kitchenaid, and JCP. Because I'm anal and picky about what I have, I'd like to purchase a set where I have the option to add on cookware later that are the same brand and same style...so they'll match.

I know this is a rather difficult question since there are going to be some bias in the answers, but that's fine. I just need to pick something out quickly as I'll be moving in the next couple of days.

  • How do I adjust this Scentsy Plug-in Warmer?

The plug in we have is not level. It says you can adjust it, but I wasn't sure how to go about doing that. There are some screws, but I didn't want to start taking it apart and goof something up.

  • What should I do with my wobbly toilet?

We had our bathroom remodeled and when the guy left, we noticed the toilet was very wobbly. He had a shim sticking out, but came back to trim it. I'm assuming it moved underneath the toilet.

Just some background, there's tile floor that was newly installed. The toilet is new too. I did see him install the toilet and I noticed he put the wax ring on the floor and sat the toilet on top of that. When looking around the internets as to what to do with this, it seemed everything I read says to put the ring on the toilet then set it in place. I'm not sure if this is a cause of the issue or not, or if it's even worth mentioning. I see no leaks now, inside, but I have not had a chance to look under the house.

  • What's my 1999 Ford Escort ZX2 worth?

It's a 1999 Ford Escort ZX2. It has 198,000 miles on it. The paint's fading in some parts and there are small dents on each front fender. Third gear grinds, so when I drive, I go from second to fourth. The a/c needs repairing and the windshield has a crack across the front of it. It has a fairly new set of tires and the oil was changed regularly. It drives fine. I live in South Texas, if that helps.

And please, only serious answers. Thanks!

  • How do I rekey a Schlage lock?

I'm wanting to replace both entry door locks so that they're all keyed the same. I've seen the Kwikset ones that I can do myself but I'm really considering the Schlage locks. I've looked online to try and find out how to rekey them, but I cannot find anything. Is this something I can do or will I need a locksmith to do this.

Also, can I order replacement keys? I'd like to have 4 keys. Do I just make copies of the originals?

  • My Pro-Com heater's burner keeps going out...help please?

I have a new Pro-Com heater and the burner keeps going out after a couple of minutes. When the pilot light is on, it seems strong and is right on the thermocouple. After I turn the burner on, the pilot light starts to flicker. I think what's happening is it's either not getting enough gas to power both or something else is causing the pilot to flicker. When this happens, the thermocouple cools and shuts it down.

We had a Dearborn in the same location with the same issue. We thought it was just that the Dearborn was older and hadn't been used in a while. We also didn't like messing with pilot lights.

I thought it was the valve that was on it. It had a smaller hole and needed adaptors to fit the 3/8" hose. I put a new valve on it and we're still having the same problem. I hope someone can help...it's getting cold!

  • What can I use a Linksys Access Point for if I have a router...can I sell it?

I bought a Linksys Access Point to use it as a repeater....only to find out it doesn't quite work the way I wanted it to. I have a router, so do I need to keep this or can I put it on eBay or Craig's List?

  • How do I know if this heater is setup for natural gas or propane?

My grandfather passed away earlier this year. A few years ago he converted a Dearborn heater to use propane and had it out in his garage.

It's starting to get cold down here and we'd like to get the gas turned on and use a gas heater in the house. There's two of them, one set up in his old bedroom and one kind of taken apart and in the garage. It's no where near the propane tank and my mom said that's the one he had in his house. He did have one in the den, and the one in the garage is the only other one on the property.

I just want to make sure it has the correct orifice to use. Will I just not be able to connect it using the hose or is it something I won't find out until we try to light it?

  • Can I use a Linksys Access Point with my internet connection?

My dad just got a new wi-fi laptop and I'm going over later to get it all set up. He has roadrunner, but no wireless router. I have an extra access point laying around and I was wondering if I can use that. I've always used Linksys wireless routers, so I'm not sure if an access point will work. Is there anything I need to be aware of when using this?

He also has a desktop, but it's not at his house right now. When he does get it, I'm assuming it would be best to get a router so he can plug it in with ethernet, if it doesn't have a wireless card.

  • Can I use an amplified splitter outdoors on a aerial antenna?

I'm thinking of purchasing this... http://www.yourbroadbandstore.com/product.php?pid=...

My grandma's having some issues getting in TV programs off her aerial antenna (cable's not available where she is). She currently has an amplifier and that's helping, but I'd like to rewire the whole house and put this in an enclosure outside.

She also has another antenna on another part of the house that is newer than the one she's using but on a smaller pole. I'm going to move it to the taller pole and run it into this splitter. I will run the power adaptor into the house.

Also, is this the splitter I need to use?

  • What does report(ing) out mean?

I got an assignment from work to plan on reporting out on a 10-minute presentation of what you have learned blah blah blah.

I had never heard the term "reporting out" until used in this instance. I looked it up and it has to do with legislative actions, from what I can tell.

Is my employer just making stuff up or am I missing something. We also had to come up with stump speeches in the past, to post up on walls. This was to make people think about something whenever they read them. When I looked up the definition of a stump speech, it has to do with political campaigning back in the olden days.

  • Can I replace this ceiling fan with a "normal" ceiling fan?

I have a ceiling fan in my house that just went out. It's been up forever. I've replaced light fixtures with ceiling fans before but wasn't sure if I could do it with this fan.

Instead of a wall switch, the only thing on the wall controlling it is a speed dial control which controls the speed of the fan. To turn the light on or off you pull the string on the fan.

Do I need to find a special fan similar to this one or can any fan work? It's in the kitchen and the light doesn't work, so it's been a little hard to cook dinner the past few nights.

Also, any hints on installing a fan with this setup?

  • How much is my PC worth?

I have a PC I built back in 2001 that I'm looking to sell as I don't really need it anymore. Here are the specs...

    AMD Athlon 900Mhz processor

    640MB SDRAM

Nvidia Geforce2 MX400 (I think has 4MB of RAM, could be wrong)

Creative Labs Encore DVD (has encoder card)

    Onboard sound

    no speakers

no OS (I don't use this computer and XP is installed on another PC)

    no keyboad

    17" Starlogic CRT flat-screen monitor

Wi-Fi card I can install (have a Rosewill that didn't work in the other PC and a Linksys that should work...I'd rather put the Rosewill in it)

It's a nice computer for someone that just wants to check email, do some web surfing. I did play some older computer games so those could work also. Age of Empire II, Monopoly Tycoon, stuff like that. I'm thinking $100, but with no OS, crap ram and crap video card, if I upgrade them, it might cut into the $100.

  • How does this system sound for an upgrade?

    Here's my current system:

Antec case (similar to the Atlas 550)

    Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy

    Sony DVD+/-RW

PNY Verto GeForce 5200 (might be upgrading soon, fan went out)

    2GB RAM

    ASUS A7V600-X

AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton 1.833GHz

    And I'm upgrading to:

    ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO

    AMD Athlon II X2 250 Regor 3.0GHz

2 GB RAM (Maybe 4, depeding on pricing)

Keeping the same case, floppy drive, dvd burner. I am considering the Antec Mini P180, but it uses micro ATX boards, so I'd have to choose another board also. I think ASUS makes a micro version of this board. I just don't like cases that are huge when they don't seem necessary.

I'll be running Windows XP for now until I can justify paying for Windows 7. I have a MacBook as my daily computer, but this is sort of a hobby...and I'm getting bored.

  • Should I get an AGP or PCI video card?

I had to open up my old computer because of a noisy fan and noticed the fan on my PNY Verto GeForce 5200 is not spinning. I do have a fan on the side of the case pointed pretty close to the video card, so this may be enough to keep it cool. I haven't had any noticeable graphics problems, so I might not buy a new card.

But if I do need to buy a new card, should I go with AGP or PCI? From what I'm reading, I should stay away from 64-bit cards. I'd like to have both DVI and VGA output as I may upgrade the monitor later on. I don't really use this computer (I have a MacBook) so I don't need a power house (and I don't want to spend a lot of $$) but I want something decent. Newegg has a Nvidia 5200 and 5500 for about the same price. I'm assuming I should go with a 5500, but should I do PCI or AGP (if I get to choose).

I might be upgrading this computer soon and will move the insides to another case in another room that rarely gets used.

  • Should I go with AMD or Intel when upgrading my computer?

I'm looking to upgrade my computer and was wondering if I should go with AMD or Intel. I kind of don't use this computer much since I have a MacBook now, but it's kind of a hobby and it would be nice to have something a little quicker. I currently have an AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (old!).

I'm not going to do any overclocking or anything, just a basic computer to maybe play some games. I will need to replace the motherboard and RAM, but will probably keep everything else (don't think I'll have any issues).

I've always uses AMD but my MacBook has an Intel CoreDuo 2.0GHz and it is great. I haven't really kept up with PC stuff so I'm wondering what y'all suggest.
