I am in an interview process with a company that had me complete a 14 page application. It states in fine print that ADP is the company that will do a background check. I have nothing to hide, but is there anyway I can do my OWN background check so that I can confirm all information is correct? Thank you.

I would like to go to a good restaurant in downtown Austin, TX that locals love to go to. Any suggestions?

My mother in law was the beneficiary of his life insurance policy and refused to give me any part of it. We were only married for four months, although we were friends for 10 years prior to getting romantically involved, then were engaged for one year before marrying. Although we had planned to change the beneficiaries of each of our insurance policies, 401K, IRA, etc, he went into a deep depression, ultimately taking his life. His Mother had no idea that she was the beneficiary, AND my husband had named her and his Dad (who died eight years ago), beneficiaries in 1987 when he bought the policy. To make a long story short, she told me she was going to give me the money, which she has not. This is my question. My husband's IRA's beneficiary is his youngest sister, and unlike a 401K, it does not automatically go to me regardless of the beneficiary. I will preface this by saying I was totally respectful of his mother and three sisters' feelings, wishes and desires for his memorial service, AND I PAID for him to be cremated and did as they wished as far as what they wanted to do with his ashes. Should I do the moral, ethical thing (even though they have not) and notify his sister that she is the benefciary of his IRA?

I found this on the internet: "Dear Liza: My brother gave me two checks totaling $200,000 in 2012 as a gift. Who pays the tax on that? You have a generous brother! And, in the no good deed goes unpunished department, it is the DONOR of the gift (your brother) who is responsible for reporting the gift and paying the tax due, if any. You, the DONEE, receive the gift free of tax because gifts are not ordinary income under the income tax rules. In 2012, gifts under $5.12 million dollars are not subject to gift tax, but any gift over $13,000 must be reported on a gift tax return by April, 2013. Your brother must file that return, which tells the IRS that he made you a gift of $200,000. Assuming he hasn’t made other gifts that exceed that $5.12 million, though, no tax will be due. Instead, by reporting the gift, your brother has used up some of his lifetime gift tax credit–the tax that would otherwise be due on a gift of $200,000."

I believe the amount has been increased to $14,000 for 2013 and the total lifetime gift tax is $5.2 million. Since I am the daughter in law, am I considered family?

We got married April 6 of this year, the next day he woke up and had an anxiety attack. Six weeks later, he lost his job due to his depression and anxiety, and he will not seek counseling. His Mother has offered to pay for any kind of professional help, whether it be inpatient, extensive outpatient or seeing a counselor. I am at my wit's end, however, I love him and he loves me.

I have two mortgages on my home. If I sell my home, make enough from the sale to pay off the first mortgage and have money left over to pay part of the second mortgage, how easy or hard do you think it will be to secure a personal loan to pay the remainder of the second mortgage? Does anyone have any old pictures (1980 and earlier) of Peachtree Commons Condominiums on Peachtree Road in Atlanta, GA? They consists of four addresses; 2214, 2218, 2222 and 2230 Peachtree Road. It is at the intersection of Peachtree and Biscayne Roads in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. I have researched the Atlanta History Center, the Digital Library of Georgia and GA State University Archives. If you have any or know where I can find pictures, that would be great.
