  • I recently saw a movie wherein there's a scene with a tv show and it's that 70's show "Hawaii 5-O"?

......where Steve McGarrett (Jack Lord) said "BOOM". But for the life of me....I cannot recall what movie was that. Any idea?

  • My male basset seems shy/afraid when taken out in the streets for a walk.?

I may have been remiss in my duties in taking him out for a walk regularly but both my bassets (male and female) has a yard to themselves the size of two baseball diamonds and they have been running around the area. However, I recently observed that my male basset seems so much attached to his playmate that when taken out in the streets for a walk, he seems shy and timid (tail between legs). At nine months old, is it too late in the day to socialize him so that he can have confidence in the streets? I don't see the same problem with the female which seems so confident in the yard or on the streets.

  • Expired dry malt extract?

Would it still be safe if I use a dry malt extract thats two months past its "best before" date? Got five of them. What a waste.

  • Would my hops (and dry malt extract) be confiscated?

...in the airport if I stow it in my luggage (carry on/checked in)? I mean hops can come in transparent plastic packets if locally grown.

  • Will mangrove survive in stagnant water that is not brackish?

There's a pool nearby and it's been murky for quiet awhile. I think having it with mangrove could be a good thing. But I read somewhere that mangroves only thrive in brackish water. Any advice would be very helpful.

By the way, it's the size of one and a half Olympic-size swimming pool.

  • The diet of a basset hound puppy?

My girlfriend and I don't agree on the kind of feeding for our female basset puppy (named "Darla"). She read somewhere that they're prone to obesity (and I agree on that one) so therefore the puppy must be on controlled feeding. On the other hand, I think that it still a growing puppy so I say "let her eat as much as she wants then control her diet as she gets bigger". Of course, she had to be restrained from any activity right after eating to prevent bloating. The pup is about eight weeks old, by the way. My girlfriend may be wrong or I may be wrong. Care to enlighten us, please.

  • A few question on the basset hound?

....just got mine this morning. She's eight weeks old. And yes she has that musky, funky dog smell and I am wondering if bathing her at least twice a week would be okay. And how much should a basset weigh in proportion to its size? I'd like to hear how you guys potty train your bassets. Would it be possible to train her to poop only in designated areas around the yard? Thanks.

  • How old must a puppy be?

....to safely wean it from its mother? I mean I just want to maximize its dependence on its mother's milk till they get separated. Thanks. The pup by the way is a basset.

  • How old must my basset puppy be....?

.... when I switch its diet from puppy food to dog food? Female basset pup. I just don't want her to miss out on the right nutrients suitable for her age and weight. Also how much should a basset weigh on a weight-to-size ratio. Thanks.

  • Basset and vegetarian diet?

What are the disadvantages/dangers (if any) if I feed my basset food which is basically 50% dog food and 50% veggies (like squash) and some greens perhaps. I have a vegetable garden in my backyard and I thought of perhaps feeding some vegetables to my dog. However I would like to know any "cons" with this idea because dogs are natural carnivores. Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Can a sunflower survive if surrounded by weeds?

There's this vacant lot beside our house and the owners just didn't do anything about it. Weeds are everywhere and it's becoming much of an eyesore. I want to brighten up the place by planting some wild flowers here and there all over the place....and I was thinking of sunflowers. I just want to know if sunflowers can survive in a land full of weeds (getting rid of the weeds is something I cannot do). I just sneak in and plant those flowers and at least make the place much less of an eyesore. Thanks!

  • Is it harmful if I use sulfur soap on my hair?

I have a dandruff problem and no shampoo have been effective in doing any good. However when I started using sulfur soap (which I use in washing my feet), it seems to work. I have little or no flakes on my shirt the whole day. However I am concerned if the sulfur content might have an effect on my hair or scalp in the long run. I would appreciate any enlightening opinions. Thanks.

  • Chow chow behavior (scratching/digging)?

I got myself a male chowchow that was given to me by a friend. He's a chow indeed with all the normal aggressive behavior and all. I am just puzzled lately with his behavior when he was scratching the marble tile where he's been spending time lately. It's as if he's trying to dig up something. He's not doing that in any other place even in the lawn or dirt in the backyard. Any thoughts on this odd behavior?

Also I'd like to ask if it's okay to give a dog multi-vitamins meant for humans. I had a friend who gave me too many vitamins and I just found out that its nearing it expiry date. Would it be okay if I mix some in my dog's food? Like half a day even?

  • Suggestions for yard trees...?

....preferably, the "canopy" type. I have a friend whose got a wide area in her backyard and would want to fill it with trees...fruit bearing and the ones with tops that spread out "like an umbrella". I would appreciate for some suggestions of a fast growing tree that would grow tall and with a canopy like branch spread. And can survive on rocky soil. I live in the tropics (Asia) by the way. Thanks

  • Would you die of some other cause...?

....secondary to the sleep disorder called "sleep paralysis". I mean, I do feel intense, uncontrollable fear and panic when during bouts of sleep paralysis and am wondering if in the event that I had a heart condition, I could die. I've read that sleep paralysis is not fatal...but could it off a heart attack and thus an indirect cause of death (definitely it won't be known even in the autopsy)?. Just a thought. Any advice or comment is most welcome. Thank you.
