Do cruise lines charge that fuel surcharge they reserve the right to charge?
Just about every cruise line states it "reserves the right to charge upo to $10/passenger/day if crude goes above $65", which it is. But do they actually charge it? If so it can add $300 to my 15 day cruise with no warning. Any experience with it out there?
5 AnswersCruise Travel9 years agoHow to get a cruise at the port on the day of the departure.?
We will be in Florida and thought we'd visit a port and see if any ships had empty cabins they wanted to fill at a very cheap price (better than sailing with empty cabins). I've heard this can be done - just wondering how best to do this.

1 AnswerOther - Entertainment1 decade agoWho wins the experience test M/P or O/B?
I propose to calculate a variable for each candidate that I'll call a constituent year. I''ll take the population served (e.g. state for a governor, half a state for a senator since there are 2/state, etc.) and multiply by years of service. So 10 years as senator of a state with 10 million people would equal 50 million constituent years.
I have three questions.
1) Which party's candidates do you think will have the highest combined score,
2) how lopsided will it be and, finally
3) do you think the comparison would be fair.
10 points to the closest for the first two answers. I haven't done the calculations yet so I'm not doing this to sell a point.
2 AnswersElections1 decade agoIs there any reason to cast a ballot? Seems the winner is a foregone conclusion.?
Interesting article. It seems an Irish bookmaker is willing to pay off before the election even happens. I wonder if the article is a fraud; I fail to see the advantage for the bookie.

1 AnswerElections1 decade agoDo your agree with Albert Einstein on this one?
A letter from Einstein is being sold this week. In it he says:
"The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish.
What think you of his harsh words?
20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoClinton Supporters: How do you react to the two lies Hillary was caught in these past few days?
First she claimed she was "against NAFTA from the start" and her released papers show she was very active lobbying for NAFTA as First lady. Now it has come out that she was never under fire in Bosnia like she claimed. The last is a very serious lie since she told the story twice about how she braved landing under fire and in reality nothing of the sort happened. False heroics is very lame lying as, in my humble opinion, it takes away from those that face enemy fire in their country's service.
Anyway, how do you reconcile this behaviour?
17 AnswersElections1 decade agoLikelihood of the Next President?
Give your breakdown of likelihood of the next President of the USA in the following format, please:
McCain: xx%
Clinton xx%
Obama: xx%
Nader: xx%
Not percentage of vote but rather likelihood of winning. BA to the person who best justifies their numbers and gives what I consder a reasonable set of numbers. Thanks, hope you enjoy.
9 AnswersElections1 decade agoAtheists: Do you believe in any afterlife. If not, what keeps you going on in life.Serious answers please.?
me, I don't buy into Christianity but I do believe there is a power beyond our knowledge and a purpose to life besides becoming worm food. I was wondering if any atheists there believe in some form of afterlife. This line of questioning arose when I wondered what stopped atheists from committing suicide when they become infirmed. My belief in a higher power (not Yaweh, Jesus, Allah or anything defined with what I consider stupid rules and myth backgrounds) would keep me from suicide.

15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoRespectful question for Christians - How do you interpret the first 11 chapters of Genesis?
For those who don't read all the question - scale of 1 to 5, how much do you literally believe Genesis Ch 1 - 11?
Had dinner with a minister friend who has just left his liberal demoniation to join a more fundementalist one. That got us talking about fundamentalists and I asked him how he defines that belief system. His answer: See how they feel about the first 11 chapters of Genesis. Do they believe it verbatim (that would be 5 on my scale) including belief in the flood, creation, Babel, etc. The other extreme would be to believe it to be allegory. Where do you stand on this scale? I'm looking for a quick survey but explanations are okay.
Final question. Was my friend's theory right. Does that also refelect your beliefs on New Testament stuff like mircales, the rapture, birth and death and ressurection narritives.

1. Love the country; do it no harm
2. Serve the people; never betray them
3. Follow science; discard superstition
4. Be diligent; not indolent
5. Be united, help each other; make no gains at other's expense
6. Be honest and trustworthy; do not sacrifice ethics for profit
7. Be disciplined and law-abiding; not chaotic and lawless
8. Live plainly, work hard; do not wallow in luxuries and pleasures.
