Do you believe there are consequences for forgiven sins?
Consider this to be a survey to understand the various beliefs of Christians across the board.
Scriptural references would be helpful.
The Catholic Church teaches, and I believe firmly, that there are consequences even for forgiven sins.
Luke 12:47-48
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhere is a Catholic video site?
Are any of my fellow Catholics aware of a site where one can actually download Catholic videos and share them with others?
I like these, for instance, but can't seem to download them.

The Truth About Catholic Priests

I have a social community for Catholics and want to upload some videos that are in the public domain or that are free.
Part two of my question: What do you think of those two videos???
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade ago20,000 Muslims attack Church -- where are the headlines?
20,000 Muslims Attack a Church in Cairo!
This was posted yesterday on the Assyrian Int'l News Agency website and I have not seen any mention of this in American news.

Any idea why this is not making headlines around the world? Comments?

3 AnswersMedia & Journalism1 decade agoHave the atheists and gays succeeded in uniting Christians at R & S?
I was here a few months ago and the Christians were arguing amongst each other. I took a break for a while. Now I am back and I have found that those debates have all but ceased. Now there seem to be more atheists and gays than there are Christians here, but the Christians are not debating each other anymore. They are UNITED in defending the following core tenets of Christianity:
The inerrancy of Scripture
The existence of God
The reality of sin and temptations to sin
The Justice of God that transcends our human ideas of justice
The fact that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, is both human and divine, and is the MOST INNOCENT VICTIM who suffered on the Cross to redeem us despite the fact that we are wholly unworthy.
Shall we all congratulate the atheists and gays for bringing us together even if it's in an imperfect union??
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCopernicus' skeleton found. Cool, or what?
Found after an investigation called for by the local Catholic bishop.
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoFor people of faith, what role does suffering play?
Catholics believe that we are to offer our bodies as living sacrifices to God. Suffering, then, has redemptive value, but only when offered in union with the suffering of Christ on the Cross. The bottom line is that in Catholic belief, suffering has meaning. What about your faith tradition? What role, if any, does suffering play?

16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do some Christians fear the ecumenical movement and the whole idea of "one world Church"?
Jesus desired that there be only one Church. The divisions are due to Satan. So why is the ecumenical movement seen as evil by some?
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat large breeds are best for training as mobility assistance dogs?
I have a psychiatric service dog but now I have some serious mobility issues and she is just not large enough to help me. I am considering getting a second dog to train as both a psychiatric and mobility assistance dog. I prefer an extra-large breed that can brace me somewhat. Which extra-large breeds might be most suitable for service dog work? Important traits are gentleness, whether or not the public would see the dog as intimidating in appearance, intelligence, etc.
5 AnswersDogs1 decade agoWhen did protestants start accepting state issuance of writs of divorcement?
The Jews used to issue writs of divorcement (refer to Moses). Jesus put a stop to that. No Christian church anywhere issues a writ of divorcement to this day. In the Catholic Church, the Church has the authority to pronounce an annulment which says that a marriage was never valid to begin with, but claims NO authority to issue a writ of divorcement in any way whatsoever just as it has always been in the history of the Church since Christ. No divorced person is allowed to re-marry in the Church UNLESS the Church has recognized that the previous marriage was never valid.
Protestants, as far as I know, never declare any marriage to have been invalid. I've never heard of it happening before anywhere. Does it? Also, they will allow remarriage in their churches (with certain restrictions) because at some point in history, they decided that the state has a right to issue a writ of divorcement that they will recognize.
When, historically, did they start believing that?
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoNon-Catholic Christians, do you recognize and abhor the sin of Onanism?
Until the twentieth century, all Christian churches viewed the sin of Onan as a moral evil (sin). [Genesis 38] This forbids the use of contraception and also the act of masturbation. It wasn't until the 1930s when the Anglican church accepted the use of contraception that all other Christian churches began to follow suit. What does your church teach about the sin of Onanism and those things that fall under it such as contraception and masturbation?
I know what the Bible teaches (Genesis 38 and the story of Onan) but what does your church teach. Or is the subject completely ignored in your Sunday school classes?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf you were God the Father and had the ability to create the mother fo Jesus, would you make her sinless?
Or would you make her inherit the stain of sin that all other human beings inherit?

18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow do protestants deal with the question of consanguinity and validity of marriage?
I find no mention of consanguinity and its relationship to marriage validity in the Bible.
In the Catholic Church, we know that the Church has the power to "bind and loose" on such matters that are not mentioned in the Scriptures. How do protestants address it, though? It is mentioned NOWHERE, as far as I can tell, in the Bible.
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCatholics, what do you think of this quote by John Henry Cardinal Newman? Does it apply at R & S?
Here is the quote:
If you would have some direct downright proof that Catholicism is what Protestants make it to be, something which will come up to the mark, you must lie; else you will not get beyond feeble suspicions, which may be right, but may be wrong. Hence Protestants are obliged to cut their ninth commandment out of their Decalogue. "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour" must go, must disappear; their position requires the sacrifice. The substance, the force, the edge of their Tradition is slander. As soon as ever they disabuse their minds of what is false, and grasp only what is true,—I do not say they at once become Catholics; I do not say they lose their dislike to our religion, or their misgivings about its working;—but I say this, either they become tolerant towards us, and cease to hate us personally,—or, at least, supposing they cannot shake off old associations, and are prejudiced and hostile as before, still they find they have not the means of communicating their own feelings to others. To Protestantism False Witness is the principle of propagation.
