I’ve heard some parents say timeout doesn’t work so that’s why spanking is necessary but timeout isn’t the only alternative or way to discipline

3 AnswersDiet & Fitness2 years agoHow do you discipline in a situation like this?
My friend adopted a boy who was abused from infancy to 3 years old. He was her husband s biological child from a one night stand. He was locked in closets, sexually abused and physically beaten until he was removed from his mother s house and my friend believed in punishment but everything she did (time outs, spanking removing privileges etc) cause his behavior to get worse.
Eventually I helped her get her kids on a reward system and his behavior improved slowly.
How would you handle a situation like that?
