  • Should I resit my GCSE's to go to college?

In secondary school, I really did not care about my education. With this attitude in mind, my GCSE's were abysmal except for a B in English. I got E's in pretty much everything. So, I went to work, and not college, because at college, they said I'd have to resit my GCSE's to actually enter it. I did not want to waste time doing my exams again, and thus decided to work for nine months. I'm seventeen now, and I do want to go to college to then go to uni and study, perhaps, optometry. But there's a part in my mind that thinks it will be a waste of time and blah, blah, blah. So, I'm asking, do you recommend going to college and resitting my exams?

  • Is this opening paragraph good?

"Jane, how many times must I beseech you to cease with your lazy loungings?" My mother said to me after entering the library. Her tone was swift and without concern for my leisure. "Your father has invited Mr. Granger over for dinner, particularly so he can become acquainted with you. I shan't have my eldest daughter choose to blame false illness as an escape from a potential suitor again. You can close that novel and go and get ready." She looked at me sharply and left the room. Though I knew her rantings were solely aimed at my benefit, I couldn't resist an internal enquiry as to the demand placed upon me. At the age of sixteen, the last thing you crave is a thirty-year old man fawning over you. Nay, you crave adventure, and to explore.

  • Is this paragraph well written?

He confirmed that he would, watching me make for my chambers, which was only across the hall in our home, a house of a somewhat moderate size, yet nothing to match the scope of a manor, or Mr. Granger's residence, Hallersham Hall. I paid no attention to the fact that I could be the mistress of Hallersham should I be civil and agreeable to its owner, for how can wealth affect the pining of the heart? Coins cannot subject a heart to servitude, despite its ability to enact the same objective towards the mind. Neither my mind or heart would be coerced by Mr. Granger's pocket or amiability, though.

Do you find the writing tolerable or good?

  • I Miss My Ex-Best Friend. Should I Try To Contact Her?

So me and this other girl had a really great friendship and we'd talk to each other basically every day in high school. Then she met this other girl who was a complete ***** and was horrible to me. She (my then best friend) seemed to do more with the new girl, although she did still maintain a healthy relationship with me. Anyway, soon best friend started to take slight jibes at me with the new girl which hurt my feelings. I decided to leave her despite her texts and messages saying that she didn't mean it. It's been over a year now and we've still not spoke to each other, yet I miss her so much because we always knew how to make each other laugh and cheer each other up. I want to initiate contact with her but I'm afraid she'll reject me or mock me with the new girl...What do you think I should do?

  • Windows Media Player isn't working on some DVDs?

So I have Windows Media Player, but I don't know which generation it is. I expect it's quite up to date since I have Windows 7 Ultimate. Anyway, I tried to watch a DVD on it, but the screen's black, however, the name of the film and then the cast pops up in the left hand corner, as if it's kind of working, but nothing is happening. I then tried to watch another DVD and it worked, but this one, and another didn't. They're both perfect condition, I promise. What should I do?

  • What do you think of this poem?

Why does your soul attempt to escape you through the essence of your eyes?

Your lips curve upwards, but your voice remains the same.

And when you speak of recent joy it's an evident bowl of lies,

With the embracing of yourself saying that love has never came.

Thinking that no one cares, your sighing's a stretch at glances,

Your nervous chuckle closing your sentence is met without a smile.

The hopes to be another man sorrow maintain advances,

And your tears that so rarely fall, pity they do not rile.

So, go now, soul, carry on your quest, and leave the body behind,

For what worth is there in a sunken ship, or a tattered and battered mind?

I shall confess, it is quite solemn. What are your thoughts?

  • Who can guess this riddle?

Like crimson bells ready to peal,

They elope with the wind as the Earth's meal,

The tinge of envy in the year's heart

And skeletal in snow their mother will heal.

  • Can you please review this poem?

    This perfect pain,

    This heartless hope

    Enamours me

    With its fire.

    This smoking snow,

    This damp desert

    Designs me

    A new desire.

    This weightless war,

    This silent scream

    Contends me

    With control.

    This callous charm,

    This wilting womb

    Taints my

    Innocent soul.

Thank you for reading this. :)

  • Are these short poems poetic?

Okay, here are five very short poems. I hope you enjoy them. Tell me what you think of them please.

The love to stand the test of time

Is the love that will never be mine,

The hearts to brave the fiercest rain,

Are the hearts that solely will never be tamed,

And the desire to forge the longest path,

Is the desire to see no tears or laughs.

I know that we will never be one,

For I am not of your desire,

And the thoughts of me from you are none,

For I'm not the wood to your fire.

    Dearest, dearest, dearest boy,

To love you is to be unwise.

    Dearest, dearest, dearest boy,

Life me from my ceaseless sighs.

The thought of repelled amour sends me to the floor but I know there will be more and heart-filled gore.

To write a happy poem is to be a happy self,

And to pen a joyful poem is to be in good health.

Yet to write a love-laced work is to be full of hearts,

And when love's rejected is when the melancholy starts.

Can you give me some constructive criticism and then tell me what you think please? Thanks in advance. x3

  • Is it normal to write erotic stories about you and your crush?

Okay, I'm so attracted to this guy. He doesn't know it yet, and probably never will, but in my spare time I write erotic stories involving he and I. Is this normal or really weird? :/

  • My first kiss, or French kiss, was supposed to be special?

I got off with this guy at a party, and it seemed to happen in the heat of the moment. It was my first ever kiss, but I wanted it to be completely special and romantic. IT WASN'T! I feel like such a fool! I feel like I've lost dignity. Am I alone here? I just want to know if this is extremely common...

  • How to tell when your cat/ kitten wants to play?

I've just got a kitten yesterday, and he's so cute! :) He's a ginger tabby and is six weeks old. I'm asking this question because he sometimes comes up to me, lightly presses his paw against my leg and makes a faint miaowing sound. What can this mean?

  • Is this poem all right?

Misery me, take me to the dark land,

For joy and happiness has conquered.

Sadden me, fill me by your stark hand,

As sorrow has not yet procured.

Release events, ones which behold tears,

Because that is how you work.

Contaminate events, from forth my blackest fears,

Reason for this could be nature.

Misery joy, and all its counterparts,

    Ruining all merrymaking and laughter,

Sadden happiness, slaying with it, hearts,

To return to pleasure soon after.

So, brew a new potion, dear Fate,

    One which sings many songs,

And make my cheers seem belate,

For in contentment you've put me so long.

I hope you enjoyed it. Tell me what you think, please.
