We have an all electric house with baseboard heat. The heaters are very simple. Each room has a separate thermostat which can be set to a certain temperature. The brand of thermostat is "FASCO".

Some rooms are way too warm (bathrooms) and some are too cool. The thermostats don't seem to work too well. And there are no automatic timers, just one setting.

Should we look into more efficient heaters and smarter thermostats? Which brands of heaters and thermostats do you recommend?

We have no air conditioning in our house. It's hot and we have put fans in our living area.

When we leave the house let's say for a couple of hours, should we leave the fans on or off, and why?

My dentist claims that they only do composite resin fillings. That they contain mercury and they just don't do it anymore. He never offered me a choice, and this was his answer when I asked.

But my insurance company covers a much smaller percentage of the composite resin filling vs. a traditional metal filling.

I don't need/want cosmetic white fillings in the back of my mouth.

Should I believe my dentist, or go to a dentist who will do a metal filling which will cost me $100s less?

The car is parked outside in Ohio where it's been single digits.

Yesterday it struggled to start, it cranks but wouldn't start for some time.

Then after being parked again for some time it wouldn't start at all. Even a jumpstart didn't help.

What could be the problem?

Every search I do right now shows a roundtrip of $1000 or more, I need it to be $600 or less. Is that realistic?

We have found a round trip for $850 (Newark to Paris), should we look for something cheaper?

Any other tips?

What does the .co. stand for?

I'm considering buying a Dell computer that comes with a copy of XP Home/Media Center (from the Dell website). Then I want to install Linux on it when I get it, and install the XP copy that I purchased on another older PC that I have (currently running linux).

Is this possible?

Let's say I go on a roundtrip flight from New York to LA. How much fuel is used per passenger? How many miles per gallon does each passenger get? How many months of driving a typical SUV does that compare to?

Compare and contrast

Turkey has a similar relationship with the EU as Mexico does to the US. The EU is seriously considering integrating Turkey into the EU which would eventually result in an integrated job market etc. The US is encouraging this.

Why doesn't the US consider making the same arrangement with Mexico?

Most of the worlds richest countries seem to have high taxes and big government. Why is that? Isn't it bad for economic growth?

The DS has a wifi connection and pretty good sound capabilities. Can I buy a "game" for it that implements a podcasting client that reads the RSS given a URL that I enter and keep on a list, downloads the mp3 file(s) that I select and allows me to play them on the DS?
