  • 2006 Jeep liberty has a sinking brake pedal?

I have a 2006 Jeep Liberty, the brake pedal sinks to the floor when holding it while the engine is running, but when the vehicle is shut off, or when the main vacuum line to the booster is pinched off the pedal becomes and stays firm and does not sink. The master cylinder has been replaced, the master cylinder has been bench bled and bled on the vehicle, as with the rest of the brake system and ABS system has been flushed. I'm at a loss of what it could be. I'm leaning toward a booster leaking vacuum, but I'm not positive about it. Anybody had this happen to them, or anyone know about what is going on?

  • I need a new Laptop, need help choosing?

My current laptop is taking a huge dump. Its a 5 year old HP, and has given me almost no problems, aside from the last few months. The hinge has broken on the right, the screen lock clip has broken on the right, and the open button has snapped in half. Tonight, I plugged my computer in to charge it and I came back a few hours later to learn that it hasn't charged. I played around with the power cord and nothing, I switched power cords, and if I keep it in the right position, it will charge, I tried the first cord again, and it also worked after some playing, so I know its in the power port on the computer itself, not a huge surprise.

I need a laptop that will be good with movies, clear picture, ect. and average internet use. I'm happy with HP and would prefer them, but I'm open to other brands as well. What would be the best 17" laptop for movies and just average use, in the $1000-1300 range.

  • For thoes of you who have a PT Cruiser, What do you think of them?

This is for people who own one. I'm looking at is the 2.4L non turbo, with manual 5 speed transmission. It has every option but leather, heated seats, and sunroof. What have you thought about them, what are problem areas and what are good things about them.

  • What event or moment changed your life forever?

Sunday morning I was in a very bad roll over accident. I was at highway speeds and Semi-truck came over into my lane, I moved over so he didn't hit me head on, and I hit a patch of ice on the side of the road, I skidded across the highway I flipped off the highway ripped out about 20-30 trees and landed on my roof 50 feet below road level, I was air born for a good 50-100 before coming to a stop on my roof. Somehow I was not hurt aside from minor cuts. This was the turning point in my life. I have a new respect for life now. What was the moment or event in your life where you knew it would be changed forever?

  • Family tree question?

Alright, I am very close to my second cousin, she is pretty much the only person if my family I can stand. She is pregnant now and now I'm kind of wondering what my title will be to this child of hers. Uncle? Second Uncle? I'm going to be a part of this childs life as I'm close to my cousin. Ya, this is kind of confusing me, if anyone can help, that would be nice?

  • What makes a good driver?

And I'm not meaning no tickets, and no accidents. I have seen some people with no tickets and no accidents cause them because of thier inattention to the road (friends and cliants). My father is one of the best drivers I know, he has taken well over 40 different driving classes for police training, and other defencive driving coruses, he is an amazing driver, and he still had an accident (not his fault, he got rear ended and pushed under a flatbed a long time ago). Some insurance companies wont even look at his application becasue he has had that accident.

In your opinion, what makes a driver good, and what makes a driver bad?

  • Vehicle carpet paint?

I've been redoing the interior of my [street] truck. The vehicle I have never came with black carpet, and tracking down aftermarket black carpet is next to impossible. I was wondering about using "Duplicolor Vinal and Fabric" spray paint. I have used it on some ohter parts of my interior (for two toneing) and have been quite happy about the resolts. It says on the can that you can use it on carpet.

I was wondering, has anyone used this (or any other brand, if so, what brand) and how did it turn out in the long run, after it had been worn in a little bit, after a few weeks, months or years. I will be putting floor mats in, but I still have the tunnel and the door cills to deal with. will it last in the long term?

  • Licenced Mechanics only being aloud to buy vehicle parts?

I was reading an article at work on a site my shop is a member of. It was about a group of Automotive technicans wanting parts stores to restrict what is sold. They want just the basics sold, light bulbs, oil and ect. I was thinking about this when I was working on a car a few days later, with the calipers put on upside down with the bleeder on the bottom, and the customer compaling of no pedel after he did his own brake job.

I'm thinking this is a good idea. I've seen quite a bit of vehicles come though the shop that customers have done thier own work on, and its scary to know they are on the same roads that I drive.

My question is, do you think that automotive parts should be a restricted item to everyone without a valid Automotive licence/ Registered apprenticship licence (limitations on this one depending on experiance), and what are your reasons behind your opinion.

  • Price Shopping?

I work in a garage and I get quite a few price shoppers. I was wanting to know why? Also do the peopel realize that if they stick to a single shop they will get better service, becasue they are a repeat cliant? I know price shopping comes with the trade, but what makes people think that a shop will give a free 4 hours diagnosis and then have the cliant go home and "fix" the problem themselves?

  • Why do mechanics have such a bad rep?

I'm a first year automotive apprentice, and a lot of people coming into the shop will ***** about bad jobs that they have had over the years, or from a friend of a freind, but, you never hear about the jobs that were done well. Cars are not chap to run, and not everything is simple on the diagnosis. Even if the job is done corectly and everything has been fixed people will still find somthing about the shop, or the mechanic to ***** about. Why is that? In the last year I have had one client call me up and thank me for the work I did. I work on an average of 10 cars a day 5 days a week.

  • Drop I-Beams?

I am looking for a set of 2 inch drop I-Beams for a 1989 Ford ranger 2wd. I've found a few sets in around the $500 range. I was wondering if anyone was getting rid of any, or know of any used ones in good shape in or around the Calgary area. There isn't much in the market for this truck and I've called around to almost every shop in Calgary that sells them. I am trying for the 2 inch drop I-Beams and not the 2 inch Drop coils, the drop coils mess up the alignment on these trucks and reduce the ride quality.

  • Coronet instead of the Charger?

Does anyone agree with me on that the new Dodge Charger should have been called the Coronet, and then later released the Charger as a two door and redesign the front and back end. I say this because the Coronet came in a four door and the charger never did. Could they have saved themself of the embarassment of the new Charger. (The Challenger is going to be awesome however, they hit the nail on the head with that one)

  • Does anyone agree with this?

I was thinking about this, and the quality of american cars vs. asian cars. There are so many Asian cars on the road because they're reliable, but the american cars on the road are cheap, and not extremly reliable, they're made cheap to encourage buyers to buy american because of the increase of people buying imports. my question is : Can't anyone see that buying Imports, they are distroying the north american econmy? and can north american's be considered patriotic if they drive an import?

  • I have an 1989 Ford Ranger Short cab/7" box, custom exhaust help?

I work in a shop but all we do is bolt on work, no custom work, I can do the work easily enough, but what i'm wanting to do is very uncommon and i was wondering if anyone has tried this before, but i want to run a straight pipe to a mini muffler and then run the pipe up the rear passenger side of the cab and have it run out of the fender in the same place the gas filler cap is, just on the opposide side, i have room to do it, i just don't know about the flex in the frame. And if anyone has done it, what are some pros and cons about it, (and i don't care about scorched paint)
