    Thanks ahead.....

  • Has your dog ever gotten the 'boot' from a groomers?

Has a groomer ever had to send your dog back un-finished? What was their reason?

    What breed was/is your dog?

    What is/was your dogs name?

Just curious about how many dogs are uninvited to be groomed, and why?

  • What is your opinion on this newspaper ad?

This is copied and pasted word for word out of a semi local online paper in my area. The number is xxxed out so nuts won't call and harass them. What do you feel/think when you read this?

Puggle pure breed. 5-6 months old female. Looks like pug, fawn color, up to date on all shots, has not been spayed, excellent with children. $200 OBO. Greenville, SC. 864-xxx-xxxx.

  • Are you supporting Obama and the HSUS?

How many animal people are leaning toward Obama? and Do you know that he is the only candidate that openly endorses and is openly endorsed by the HSUS? and Does that make a difference at all in your support?

PLEASE no fights. I just read up on this in detail, and it made a difference to me. Just wondering if it mattered much to anyone else involved with animals.

  • OFA knowledgeable people ?? What would you do?

I recently purchased a 5 1/2 yr old retired show dog from retired show people out of state. I was very excited for the chance to get this dog because of his bloodline and OFA rating of Excellent and so on. Waited for 2 months on him and finally got him here. Here's my issue and question. The dog was fat as a lard and matted, so he went from car to shop for a grooming and bath. While bathing I noticed that one of his knees seemed weak. His OFA xrays were taken as a 3 1/2 yr old (2 yrs ago). The vet says she cannot tell if it's from an injury. Do I assume that a bad knee would have been noticed? Do I assume that if it's a genetic problem, it would have shown up by 3 1/2 yrs old? Do I assume it's an old injury that has happened since his xrays? It's obvious that the care of this persons dogs has been lacking severly since his heath problems started. It seems that they have been overcrowded. He had no knowledge that there was a problem at all. The show people here say 'breed him and don't

  • Do you believe this article about pet underpopulation is true?

    Seriously and all jokes aside.

I've helped with health certificates myself for many dogs to travel up north to shelters, and our local shelter just shut down because they didn't have enough animals coming in to keep their funding. So do you think there's any truth to this article?

  • Do you think the spaniel club is telling the truth?

I keep seeing people talk about our terrible overpopulation problem of pets, but yet it seems that some places can't even get enough animals to adopt out to people waiting in line to take them. Do you think this research is true? or is it a smoke screen from a reputable club?

  • Is adopting from a shelter supporting puppy mills?

I'm trying to understand why saving a pitiful pet store puppy is bad, but adopting a pitiful shelter puppy is good? Aren't they both noble? If all irresponsible breeders, puppy mills, byb's puppies end up in the shelter,,,,and we all adopt from shelters, aren't we supporting them by providing an outlet for their castaways when we adopt?

  • When someone asks about breeding a dog......?

Why do so many people ask "is it a champion"? "is the sire a champion?" and say that they shouldn't breed if they aren't champions? In looking up many different champions of many different breeds at random, I notice that not one so far has ALL champions in the pedigrees. Someone bred the non-champions anyway, and made champions of the offspring, so I was just wondering why do so many people say that they should be champions, when so many champs come out of dogs that weren't shown or didn't make it in the ring?

    Example-

  • What do you do with your puppies tails?

Seriously. We docked tails/ removed dewclaws last night, and I just started wondering what everyone else does with the tails? Do you save them and turn them in to the breed club for research? or just trash them?

  • Cocker Spaniel people!! and tail docking!!?

Any tail docking breed really......Do you think the tails should be left natural? Would you rather own a normally docked breed with a natural tail? or would you rather it be docked like we normally see?

  • So...my b*tch is about to go into labor, and I was wondering....?

Should I just go on to bed and leave her to it? If it is natures way for dogs to 'fast' aka starve for a day, every now and then,,,,,,I mean, isn't it natures way for dogs to deliver pups without our help? Please advise....

  • What if you are 13yrs old, and your parents didn't teach you about dogs?

My question is why is a child (or young teen) who has a dog that is pregnant treated like a criminal? How can a child automatically realize the impact of breeding and/or accidents, and/or spaying/neutering if they are not taught by the parents? How are they to know about the genetic faults, euthanized shelter animals, dangers of breeding, birth etc if they are not taught by adults that know or care about these things? How are they to learn by being attacked and called names they aren't even sure of the meaning of? Is everyone on here who has made a statement like "if you have to ask that ,you shouldn't be breeding" or "you byb!! you are the reason millions of animals die every day" lucky enough to have been raised by parents that DID know and care enough to teach you these things from birth on? Did you all know to spay and neuter and why you should even at 12 or 13? I seriously want to know if you grew up with this knowledge? or if you learned later after seeing and being taught?

  • If a dog has a false pregnancy?

Does the temperature still drop pre-whelping time? and do they still drain clear mucous at whelping time?

(yes I know the vet can tell, but was just curious if these changes occur with a false pregnancy,,,,along with milk production, nesting behavior etc)

  • Does anyone know WHY biologically, a dogs......?

temperature will drop before giving birth? What is the actual reason this happens? I've asked 3 different vets,,,and the answer is always 'hormones'. But I can't find out the actual WHY. What is the purpose,,,and is it a combination of hormones, dropping of hormone levels, rising of levels or what? Looking for the technical reason here. Thanks ahead!
