  • How much to replace my heating and air??

I have an 80 year old 1,050 sq. ft. house that has a furnace in the attic and air conditioner outside... the ducting basically looks like large insulated hoses (don't know what you call it).... the air conditioner and heater are at least 15 years old and are obviously inefficient as my bills are too high for such a small house.... can anyone give me a very rough idea of what it would cost to replace these with say a standard american packaged electric and gas unit?? thanks in advance

  • Who's the flip flopper now??

Everyone talks crap about McCain flip flopping but Obama is no better.... just a week ago he was hardcore against offshore drilling now under pressure of losing voters he has flipped to being for limited offshore drilling.... just like everything else he (and McCain) keep sliding to the middle

  • Serious question..... What book would you recommend??

for someone wanting to learn more about historical and future ramifications of different economic policies?... I'm a CPA and have had economics courses so I understand some of the principles of taxes and economics but would like to learn more for myself..... and another requirement is one that is not party biased

There is so much "propoganda" out there that it's hard to see the true effects of differing types of policies

    thanks in advance

  • No matter who wins does anybody else agree with this....?

We should find a why to ensure the president's cabinet, those that have his ear so to speak, are representative of more than just their own party.... Either side extreme left or extreme right can both cause a lot of harm when all they hear is their own party line..... there needs to be balance.

  • Why do people choose candidates based solely on such non-issues as abortion and gay marriage??

Both sides of this are absolute morons for choosing a candidate based on an issue such as abortion.... it's been legal for 40 some years and is going absolutely nowhere nobody's going to overturn it if you don't like it don't do it if you do like it do it.... come on people choose candidates for issues that mean something!!

same with gay marriage who gives a damn if it's legal or not we have a lot bigger issues to worry about!.... if it's legal great they can suffer with the rest of us if it's not legal fine you can still freaking live together like you're married who needs a gov't blessing......

VOTE ON THE REAL ISSUES FOREIGN POLICY, ECONOMY, SECURITY etc...

ok I feel better now just ranting and raving =)

  • Question about fat burning??

Ok I have read everything about cardio only burning fat after 30 minutes or so of cardio.... My question is how does this work if you lift weights with pretty good intensity for 40-45 minutes before doing 20 minutes of cardio??... will the carbs be depleted enough to burn fat at that point or should I be doing more cardio??

    thanks in advance

  • I just bought an 80 year old home (1,050 sq. ft) with an air conditioner and furnace that are very outdated?

I'm thinking of replacing the furnace (which is about 10 feet in length!!) and air condition with an HVAC unit.... can anyone recommend units that aren't too costly I honestly don't know one brand from the next... i live in oklahoma city

anybody have an idea of what a unit like that would cost for a 1,050 sq ft house??.... also i'm anticipating the 20 plus year old flex tubing that is used for ductwork in the attic will need to be replaced

    thanks!

  • How to tell how much overweight I am?

the BMI calculation is useless as I workout quite a bit so it says I'm obese at 6' 208 lbs which is definitely not the case... I have a spare tire to lose but definitely not 35 lbs as it suggests... what is a better way to gauge where I'm at? thanks in advance

  • What is wrong with people???

DOVER, N.H. — Mitt Romney's visit to New Hampshire started on a sour note Tuesday when a restaurant patron declared he would not vote for the Republican presidential contender because of his faith.

"I'm one person who will not vote for a Mormon," Al Michaud of Dover shouted at Romney when the former Massachusetts governor approached him inside Harvey's Bakery. Romney was kicking off the second of two day's worth of campaign visits in the lead primary state.

Romney kept smiling as he asked, "Can I shake your hand anyway?"

    Michaud replied, "No."

Michaud later told reporters he was not "a right-winger," alluding to some evangelical Christians who have compared Romney's faith to a cult. Instead, Michaud stated he was "a liberal."

He said he planned to vote for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., should she win the Democratic presidential nomination.

  • Why do so many people think it is their RIGHT to have the government provide everything for them??

Where in the constitution does it say that we the government shall take your money and provide those who do not want to work with free health care, welfare.. and the list goes on and on... whatever happened to people actually taking initiative and working to better their lives instead of making up excuses and looking for handouts... I'm all for those who actually need help getting help but 90% of the people I see getting help in my everyday life are just exploiting the system because they are allowed to. My grandmothers entire family came from another country (egypt) where they did not speak english and had absolutely nothing they cleaned buildings until they could learn english and saved whatever they could until they were able to start buying property for themselves and created their own business... they NEVER took handouts

i guess this is more of a rant than a question =)
