  • Can somebody explain RNA to me?

We hardly went over it in class (finals seemed to happen very suddenly and everyone was like "oh!")

Hopefully there wont be munch about RNA on the final (it's tomorrow) but can you explain what it does, how it differs from DNA, etc?

    Thanks so much!

  • Approx. how long is a part time job?

I'm applying to a super market.

I'm 17, so the earliest I can go is around 3:15. Say I work three or four days a week, how many hours would I expect each day?

  • A vague question about slaughter house five?

I'm trying to remember a quote about Howard Campbell

I believe it had to do with something about playing a roll and then eventually becoming that role? Does that make sense? Even if you have the general idea that'd be great

    Thanks!

  • If I do 8 minute arms/abs two times each everyday, will I see good result?

I want to tone my arms/abs by mid July. I'm not looking to bulk up but just actually have some strength and not have my arms/abs look so flabby =/

Anyhow: Say for the next 2 months I do 8 minute arms twice and then 8 minute abs twice will I see anything good happen or is it just a waste of time? Right now I'm starting with four pound weights but will gradually build up to whatever I can manage w/out getting hurt

    Thanks, have a lovely weekend!

  • I can't solve this math equation?

    (x-4)^3-4(3x-16)

So I wrote out the (x-4) three times and got x^3-12x^2+38x-24

Then I distributed the -4 to the (3x-16) and got -12x+64

I then combined those two and got x^3-12x^2+26x+40

I thought I could factor by grouping but I can't get it! Could somebody try it themselves and see what they get?

    Thank you :)

  • Strength training for women?

I have zero upper body strength. It is the most pitiful thing.

I don't know where to start! If you've found a plan you like/find works please post!

    Thanks

  • How to water my crown of thorns?

I have a tiny crown of thorns in a pot indoors. I've been watering it almost everyday it seems like! I wake up, check my plants, and that one always has incredibly dry soil even if I watered it just the day before.

Is the soil bad? I got it from a good nursery (and it would be a challenge to replant it ha ha...)

Other than that it seems pretty happy! Looks better than when I bought it.

So should I water everyday or go every other day?

  • How to care for euphorbia milii (crown of thorns)?

I was at a nursery today and in the "nobody wants these plants" section there was the odd spiky one with red flowers which I learned now is a crown of thorns. It had no tag or anything so I know nothing about it.

How do I care for it? Is it a cactus (so water infrequently)?

  • Why is the Korean War the forgotten war?

I know in the Koreas it certainly isn't but in the US you rarely hear/learn about it though it was pretty costly

Is it mainly because it was sandwiched between WW2 and Vietnam or for some other reason?

    Thanks

  • Book suggestions? Fiction or nonfiction?

I'm going on vacation tomorrow and I'd like to have a couple of books to read (on my kindle)

Fiction wise I'm not sure what I want. I downloaded Game of Thrones already but want something perhaps a little more...realistic I guess? Maybe something like "A Farewell to Arms" or WW2 related.

I'd also like a nonfiction book on current events. I don't know much about the world today so I want to know more. I'm interested in science related stuff like climate change or developmental controversies like the Key Stone Pipeline. However I'd like to stay away from things like An Inconvenient Truth b/c it sounds like it's riddled with errors from what I've been told...

    Thanks!

  • I have a sore throat...start of a cold? Best meds?

When I woke up, it was scratchy and sore and never really got better. Other than that I'm alright. No stuffy nose, no headache, no clogged ears, no itchy eyes, sneezing or anything. I'm going on vacation and the last thing I want is to have a cold the entire time I'm there.

Any ideas? Think it's just allergies? To be safe, is there anything I can get OTC?

    Thanks!

what to do about crooked lips?

It bothers me so much! I'd be sort of happy w/ my general appearance if it wasn't for my mouth

When I was getting braces I was told my jaw alignment was every so slightly off and could only be fixed by surgery, but it wasn't really worth it. I no longer have braces so it's no cause of that...

but is there anything I can do? The only way I can get it to look sort of normal is by sticking my tongue against the inside of my lip

  • Do I have ringworm?

I found this biggish, round sore on my thigh. There's only one though which is why I'm not totally certain.

It's very red, dryish looking, but not very itchy.

I think it might be ringworm b/c I work with cats every weekend and there was a very long epidemic of it. I've worked there for a while and was surprised I hadn't gotten it sooner...so I guess I'm thinking I'm due?

Any ideas of what it might be?

  • I've had a -800 calorie deficit this week?

I've eaten very healthily this week (all fruits, grains, gluten free, lots of veggies, only good fats, etc.)

I haven't exercised a wink to my disappointment but plan to start friday (been busy after class)

Anyhow, could I expect to lose anything by continuing like this?

  • I've been eating less than 1000 calories the past few days...?

The past few days I've only eating around 700-900 calories. For a while I was shoving my mouth with everything I could find but all the sudden I just haven't had the desire to eat much. Also, everything I've eaten has been very healthy (mostly fruit, healthy grains (gluten free), healthy fats (nuts, little bit of fresh cheese, lots of green/herbal teas) and I feel a lot better. I plan to start exercising more (used to run a ton, stopped a year ago due to lack of motivation)

I'm trying to cut down a few pounds by the 20th...I know this isn't a healthy way (no need to tell me) but I could I expect to lose anything?

Once I get back into the habit of exercising I'm going to build up my calorie intake that way I avoid completely rebounding

  • Looking for a beginner dslr?

I might be going on a photo/hiking tour this summer so I'd like to be prepared and not look like a fool by bringing my little pocket coolpix...

I don't want to start out with something super expensive, if photography becomes a huge part of my life I can always upgrade. I was thinking I'd like to try to start with something in the 400-500 dollar range. I know that's a bit tough, but have any suggestions?

    Thanks so much!

  • Circular red scab on upper thigh?

I noticed on my upper, almost inner, thigh a red kind of scab. At first I thought "ew, is that acne?" but it doesn't have the same qualities of acne. I haven't ever shaved that far up b/c I'm neither sexually active and it's still kind of winter where I am so there's no point. It doesn't hurt/itch either.

It's slightly raised, very red, and has dry skin on top like it may have popped?

Sorry for the disgusting description but that's kind of what it looks like

Any ideas? I'm a little concerned.

  • What does my political compass score mean?

For my history class we had to take the political compass test.

    I got -4.12 economic left/right and -0.82 social libertarian/authoritarian

I don't know much about politics so if you could help me out that'd be great

    Thanks!

  • Should I cut my hair chin length?

I'm in the mood for change. Over the summer I cut it to about an inch or two above my shoulders. Right now it's about an inch or two below my shoulders...

    Should I go for it?

  • I want a boyfriend, no where close to having one.?

I'm 17, I know this is common, I know I will get answers that say "be proud your single!" or "your still young, you have no need for a boyfriend" or whatever. But I'm sorry, I just have come to the point in my life where I am antsy and aggravated about not having somebody to feel about "in that way".

I horrendous with guys, I have no guy friends (like, maybe 1/2 a guy friend, we talk at lunch at bit but we're both very shy)

But I don't know what to do. It's getting towards the end of junior year and I've yet to be kissed/asked out on a date. I don't even think anybody has ever had a crush on me. Personally, I don't think I'm ugly...sure I'm no spectacular beauty but I think I'm alright...I'm shy but is that a reason to give up on a person entirely?

Ugh, I don't even have an idea how to go about talking to guys. What do you talk about? What do you do?

    Any advice?
