  • At what age did you transition your child to Toddler bed?

    Hi there,

Just wondering at what age you moved your child from a crib to a toddler bed? My son is just turning 1, so I know it's not now, but I'm thinking future and furniture for next year b/c we are going to ttc #2 towards the end of the summer.

    Thanks

  • Bored, ideas to help keep my sanity please?

Last week my fiance started a new job, he always used to work days, and we were always home together as a family at night. Now he's got to leave for work at 3pm and doesn't get home until after 2 am. My son is almost 1, and I absolutly love spending time with him (I only work part time so I can spend as much as possible). My problem is, playing with the same toys over and over again, day after day is starting to bore me. We need to be home by 7ish to be able to do his bath and bedtime routine. I have no close parks to walk to, and yes, we can go for a walk through the neighborhood, but that only consumes about 30 minutes before we both start getting bored. I love going out shopping, but then I spend money I don't really need to spend. I've looked for mommy and me groups and play groups in my area, and haven't been able to find any. Any suggestions on what I can do?

    Thanks

  • Helpful home remedies?

Just figured I'd share some helpful info, and see if anyone has any helpful home tips on treating common problems or diagnosing them.

If you cover a wart with duct tape for 6 weeks, it cuts off the air supply feeding the wart, and kills it.

If you put 1ml of hydrogen peroxide into the ear, it will bubble up if there is an ear infection and won't bubble if the ears are clear (yes it's perfectly safe to put in the ears, we use it to help flush out excess wax in the drs office).

Does anyone else have helpful home remedies?

  • Just wondering...What annoys you, and what do you absolutly love?

Just wondering what little individual things your LO does that you absolutly love. And what things do they do that irk you?

My LO is going to be 1 next week. I love how when I ask for a kiss, he leans his head forward b/c I always kiss him on the forhead. I love that he's always laughing and thinks everything is hysterical.

The 2 things that drive me crazy that he does is this new attitude/temper he has developed where he screams and makes a fist like he's yelling at me. The other thing, is that he climbs everything!

  • Bridal shower gift etiquette?

    Hello,

I'm invited to a friend's bridal shower and wedding, and wondering what the correct etiquette for gift giving is? I got her a gift off of her registry for the shower, and was planning on giving an envelope with money at the wedding, is this correct or am I supposed to give it all at the shower?

    Thanks!

  • Nuby sippy cup problem?

    Hello,

I bought my son 2 new sippys yesterday which he loves but I'm having a problem with them. The silicone nipple and entire spout keeps collapsing when he drinks from it. Like the air isn't going in and out of it. The only way for me to fix it is every couple of sips to take the top off and then put it back on...It's not too tight, I just don't know why it's doing it, I've never had this happen before?

    Any suggestions?

This is the cup I have. I know they are cheap, and no problem to replace, but He really likes this kind and I haven't had a problem with them before.

  • How to word invitations, please help?

    Hello,

I would love some input on how to word invitations. We will be having a 1st birthday/baptism party for my son. His birthday is June 18th, baptism ceremony will be June 27th, and the party will be july 4th. I bought the do it yourself invitations that you print out right at home, but I'm having trouble trying to decide how to word it. Only some invitations will have the actual ceremony information on it (because it's being done on a seperate weekend, I certainly don't expect everyone to come to the church) so I was only going to put the church info on invites for the immediate family. The invites should also say somewhere to bring bathing suit and towel (backyard style bbq/pool party). Please help, and be specific, as to exactly what you would write.

Thanks so much for your suggestions in advance.

  • Can Sharing a pillow case case a false positive hair drug test?

    Hi,

My fiance had a pre-employment drug test. The urine came back clear for everything, but the hair test showed trace amounts of Oxycodone and we are trying to figure out why. He absolutly does not take drugs. I however have had several prescriptions for percocet in the past few months. I had 2 presctiptions about 8 months ago after my C-section, and Had another 2 prescriptions after having a botched wisdom tooth extraction about 4 months ago. Obviously these drugs would show in my hair. We share pillows in bed, and I also have a thyroid problem so a lot of my hair comes out. I'm wondering if this could be the result of his positive test, because we can not think of any other possibilities.

So I'm wondering if I sweat or my hair comes in contact with his hair every night could that be a possibility.

    Thanks so much

*****Please do not answer if your going to say he took the pills....That's not what I want to know. I strictly want to know the answer to the specific question asked! Thank you!!!

  • Questions for Daycare, Please give advise?

    Hello,

My son is now 8 months old, and I'm weighing the possibility of going back to work full time (have only been working part-time since I went back after having him). But money is starting to get tight, so I could really use the extra 2 days a week. Between my schedule and my fiance's schedule, luckily we would only need daycare 2-3 days a week, about 5-6 hours a day. I have a couple appointments with some local daycare centers on monday, and would really appreciate some other mom's input as far as what things to look for and what questions to ask. I have heard some really bad things about daycare and the caregivers not paying attention to the children, and I want the best for my son, and want to make sure he'll be safe.

Thanks for your answers in advance...Have a nice weekend!

  • Baby Proofing Electric Heat baseboards?

    Hello,

My son is crawling all over the place. He has a playroom which is all for him to crawl around and play. The only "unsafe" thing is the baseboard to the heater. I have electric heat, so It's not the "vent" type. They get very hot when the heat is on. I can't cover them with a pillow or anything b/c of a fire risk, which is what I do when the heat is off b/c they are metal and have a sharp corner. Leaving the heat off isn't an option b/c it's a converted garage and isn't insulated very well, so the room gets very cold with the heat off. I tell him "no" when he goes near it or trys to touch it, but then he thinks it's a game and keeps going back to it. Any suggestions for making my baseboard heat safer?

  • Mommies, your baby with pets....Poll!?

    Hello.

A little bored, and just figured I'd ask...

How are your pets with your LO? What kinds of pets do you have? Would you get rid of a pet just because you were pregnant?

I have a 7 1/2 month old son and a 3 year old Pitt Bull. Yes, they have a horrible reputation b/c of irresponsible owners. My dog is a big ol' baby who just loves to cuddle. He is so good with my son. Just wants to lick him from head to toe. The baby pulls his ears, runs him over in the walker, and the dog just licks him and wags his tail. Some of my family members insisted I get rid of the dog when I was pregnant just because of his breed..but I couldn't understand this b/c my dog has never shown a hint of agression or bad temperment. We even discussed the arrival of the new baby with the veterianrian who said she didn't see any issues because my dog has such a great temperment. Now of course if the dog ever snapped or growled at the baby...the baby comes first and the dog would have to go....but just wondering your child/pet situation..big dog? Little dog? How did you pet handle the arrival of the baby?

    Thanks!

  • Alpha Omega Elite 3 in 1 convertible carseat?

I've been looking at this car seat for a few months now, but need to make up my mind, as my son has outgrown his infant carrier, and I'm pretty sure this will be the one I buy, but I would like some feedback whether positive or negative before I purchase it. So to those of you that have this car seat, do you like it, not like it, recommend it, what are the pros and cons?

    Thanks so much

  • Where to buy Zweiback toasts?

    Hello,

I previously asked a question about teething biscuits, and a poster suggested Zweiback toasts...These are what I'm actually looking for, but can't seem to find them. Any suggestions as to where I can get these. I was on Gerber.com and searched a 15 mile radius to buy them, and didn't get anything. So I guess I will have to buy these online...Any suggestions? Thanks

  • Teething Biscuits or other options for my 6 1/2 month old?

    Hello,

I'm looking to find a good teething biscuit for my 6 1/2 month old son. I tried the Earth's Best, but they break apart into big peices, which he's not old enough to handle yet. I need something that only turns to mush and is thick enough to not break off into large chunks. Wondering if you have any ideas on a good brand, or any other options. He really enjoyed the biscuit I gave him, he loved the flavor, but I'm just very affraid that he will choke. He does have 2 teeth (bottom front), and he eats stage 2 food, but he can't chew large chunks yet. What have you used with your teething babies? I have the teething net for fresh fruits and veggies, but he's not all that crazy about it (I don't think he likes the texture of the mesh net). Any suggestions?

    Thanks so much

  • How old was your child when they had their first haircut?

    Hello,

My son was born with a full head of hair, and now he's 6 months old. The hair on the top of his head comes down to his eyes, but it's still short in the back and the sides. His daddy keeps insisting on cutting it. It's definatly long enough to be cut, but isn't he too young to cut his hair?

How old was your child when you cut their hair for the first time, and what do you think about cutting a 6 month old's hair?

  • How long after your first did you want another?

    Hi ladies,

So my son is 6 months, and I feel like he's already all grown up. Rolling, crawling, holding his own bottles, sleeping through the night, I look at him in amazement, and I want my little newborn back. I obviously know that is not possible, but how did time go by so fast? It feels like just yesterday he was just born, but I feel like tomorrow he'll be leaving for college. I miss him being a little baby all snuggly....now he's Mr. Independant and wants to do everything on his own...I feel so not-needed. And I'm missing being pregnant. I miss my big belly and feeling the baby moving around. Having another right now really just isn't a great idea for us. We might be moving out of state due to a job relocation, and until the training for this new job is done, he'll be working crazy hours. We originally said we would probably start trying for # 2 next fall, which will make our first son about 2 years old when baby 2 came along. When did you ladies start wanting another or miss being pregnant. I just keep constantly thinking about it.

    Thanks

    Happy New Year
