  • What does the poster is Jim's bedroom mean?

In the episode, "email surveillance" of season 2 of the office, in Jim's bedroom there is a poster on the wall with a sun and some icons and a math equation.

Does anyone have any idea what the meaning really is? Interpret please :)

  • Is it safe to plug this hole?

There is a small hole in my aluminum rafters and some birds took up nest in there last year. I don't want them in there, as they are loud and its probably not a good idea anyway to have them so far up in there.

I just was thinking I would plug the hole this Spring and seal it off. However, I don't want to trap them in and kill them, ESPECIALLY if they've already laid eggs...

Any idea when they might lay a brood? It's the end of March in Northern Utah... It's been cold lately, if that helps.

  • Black Mold under sink?

I was drilling down through our sink cabinet to install a dishwasher, and I used a hole saw to drill the hole.

When I pulled the plug of wood out of the hole saw, I saw that there was a mold-like substance all over the bottom. (So on the bottom of the sink cabinet, hidden from view) I do see some previous water damage from possibly years before. It was completely dry and no new damage has occurred.

Should I be worried about any mold issues like mycotoxins? It was last night, and neither my wife or I have any sympotoms as of yet. But should I get an expert to come look at it or just leave it alone?

It was black and had the appearance of a lichen or a mold of some sort. (not mildew)

  • Blu-Ray connect to Old TV?

We got a free Blu-Ray player with a recent appliance purchase, but we do not have an HD TV. The Blu-ray Player only has two connections on the back. It has an HDMI, and a connecter that says "Coaxial Digital"

    amzn.to/N3kJi6

Our TV has the old 3 pronged A/V Input. (Yellow, Red, White)

We don't care about picture, we just want to use Netflix on it for now. How can we connect this to our TV? Is it even possible? Are there converters we can purchase or anything?

  • We are turning our portable dishwasher into a permanent one?

We will be buying a new dishwasher to install in the space where our portable (broken) one is now. The portable machine has a countertop attached to the top of it, which we can pry off and use as the countertop for the permanent one.

It is next to our oven, and there is no cabinet there. Do we have to build/buy a cabinet for it? How do we install it so it's safe, quiet, and re-sellable (home equity-wise)?

We want it to look nice, but we don't mind a good DIY project. We'll already have the plumbing set up, we just need to know about the cabinet...

  • My voice is gone! Can I get it back?

This may seem like a juvenile question, but is there any way to heal a hoarse voice faster?

I screamed my voice out at a concert last night, (my fault), but my job is on the phones, so I need to be able to talk to people. Is there anything I can do to speed this up? I've tried hot water with honey and lemon, and cough drops.

    Any other ideas? :)

  • Water Damage Question!?

There was a small hole in the corner of my laundry room, where the floor meets the corner of the wall. I caulked this in a few months back, but the wall seems to be warping a little bit now around the caulk.

There's no water from the washer, and no other water in the room. The room is an add-on to the house. I'm worried the water in the ground is leeching up into my house... Is that a legitimate worry? Any ideas on how to keep this damage from getting worse?

  • What's the concrete under a gate called?

We installed a chain link fence, with a single 4' gate. We want to pour s strip of concrete under the gate itself so that the grass doesn't get trampled down. What's that called, and how do you install one?

  • My dishwasher smelled like burning?

We have a "portable" dishwasher that we hook up to our sink. The other night it was in the rinse/dry cycle and we smelled a very faint burning smell. "It smelled like yarn when it burns... I know, oddly specific, right?)

Anyway, I unplugged it and went back to bed. Now when we plug it back in, it doesn't work... Was it the motor that burned out? Is there some other problem possibly?

    Any thoughts would help.

    Thanks!

  • How to paint styrofoam?

I know not to use spray paint, as it will melt the foam.

We have high-density white foam diffusers for our recording studio, but the white is unsightly in a studio where we spent lots of money making it "feel just right"

I know Acrylic paints will work, but won't they "bead up" on the foam and not dry evenly? Is there any way to prevent the paint from beading up?

  • Chain Link Fence Question...?

I was told that you should not re-use the posts for a chain link fence, but that you should buy new ones. This person stated that the old ones are weakened or something and that new ones will last longer.

They look fine to me and I don't see any reason to buy new ones. The person that told me won't be making any money off of it, so there's no reason for him to lie to me, but he says his uncle (who is a contractor) as well as his online research has all told him to buy new.

    Any thoughts?

  • Is there a way to re-tread my shoes?

I don't have the mopney to go buy a new pair, but they are wearing out and I love these shoes.

Is there any way to add more tread to the bottom? I don't mean just gluing a leather piece on, because I need some good tread for walking and running and climbing, etc.

  • How do I prevent shin splints?

I run 3-4 times per week and my shins have started hurting. They are tender to the touch and it hurts when I'm done running. I know thatn low-impact exercise like swimming can help, but I still need to train for a marathon I'm running this fall.

I don't want to just take ibuprofen every day, because that's not good for you. Is there any way to treat this or prevent it and still be able to go running?

  • how fast do lilacs, hydrangeas, and forsythia grow?

We want to plant some in our backyard, but don't know if we should spend more money on buying the already started bushes, or if we should plant them from seed...

  • Change name under blog roll?!?

Ok friends, my blog roll is driving me insane. It won't let me save links under a new name. For instance, the last blog I added to the list says "Blogger: Sign In". It will let me type the new name in, but it won't save. I googled it and a lot of people are saying they have the same problem, but no one has posted if/how they fixed it. Suggestions?

(The blog roll is the list of blogs you follow, usually on the right of the screen. I'm trying to change the blog names to what the blogs are called, but it's not letting me...)

  • Why is everyone so fixated on Mitt being a Mormon?

Does it really matter what religion he is? Nobody should give a flying crap! Nobody cares if a president is Catholic or Protestant! Even Barry got elected with his roots in Islam! So, who cares?

It has NOTHING to do with his political platform!

  • My sidewalk isn't level. Can I patch it?

What kind of cement do I need to use? One square of my sidewalk is slanted, making it lower than the adjacent piece. this causes a tripping hazard and makes it ugly. Also, all the dirt and leaves collect there and it's impossible to get the swept out.

Do I have to buy regular cement and get a mixer, or is there an easier way to fill this in and smooth out the walkway?

  • How do I find my sprinkler system?

We bought a house and the owners said there was a sprinkler system. Some neighbors have confirmed that there is one as well. We have looked over our lawn pretty throughly and haven't found any heads, so I think they could be buried from non-use.

We have looked everywhere and can't find a control box or an on-switch either. Any ideas how to find it?

  • My TV channels were working until last week. Now all of a sudden they've stopped.?

We never paid for cable, but we don't have a digital converter box, as far as we know, either. Have we been stealing cable without knowing it?
