When I try to open Firefox, I get a message: "Couldn't load XPCOM" I do not know what XPCOM is. Do you know how I can repair this problem ?

Thus far, I have not been able to find a remote which could learn all functions from my existing remotes, but does not have any pre-existing programming in it. Do you know if such a device exists, and if so, please advise where to purchase one.

We have a custom built trailer, built 40 years ago. Due to the very special design of the trailer, a near exact replacement is needed.

DESCRIPTION: 2 inch wide, 4 Leaf, Flat end Slipper type, 29 1/2 inches from pivot center to end, 3/4 inch pivot ID, and the leaves are roughly 7/16 inch thick, or 400 thousandths as measured with micrometer. We do not know the load rating of this spring, but the total design rating of the trailer + load was about 10,000 pounds.

We do know the spring was salvaged from a very large mobile home's axle assembly.

Could you please help us find a source for replacements? The most important specifications are the width (2") and the pivot hole. (3/4") Possibly a different number of leaves could work also. Any and all suggestions will be appreciated very much.

We are considering buying a home on a lake. The lake is all US Government owned. This home comes with a boat dock on the shore. The US Army Corps of Engineers manages the lake property. If you own property next to the lake they will issue a permit to allow you to place your private boat dock on the lake.

The question is, if we bought this home, could we then rent the boat slip to a neighbor, because we have no interest in boating. Do you know if this is commonly done? Are there any laws which would prohibit such a rental? Please give us the benefit of any experiences you may have on this topic.

The drive appears to be working as evidenced by the usual clicking and whirring sounds. Then, as I usually do, from the START MENU, I open >> Computer >> DVD RW DRIVE (E) , and nothing happens for awhile, and finally a message appears saying "Windows Explorer is not responding".

Note: In the "AUTO PLAY" menu in CONTROL PANEL, I have selected "Take no action" which has been my preference consistently since this computer was new.

So, then I looked in CONTROL PANEL >> DEVICE MANAGER >> DVD CD ROM DRIVES >> Optiarc DVD RW AD-7561S ATA Device, and under the "GENERAL" TAB, It tells me "This device is working properly." (This is kind of vexing, because obviously something is not working properly)

My computer is a 5 month old HP Laptop Pavilion dv6-1230us, OS is Vista, and the drive was OEM factory installed.

Any troubleshooting help, or related advice you offer will be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU.

I have a secured wireless router on DSL, and have Norton Internet security on, and have Vista Home Premium 64 bit.

The computer was idle, but was on and connected to the internet, with the flash drive in it.

Then I noticed the light on the flash drive was blinking as it usually does when I use it, but I was not doing anything on the computer. The drive has sensitive information on it.

I fear that someone could have accessed my computer and was browsing my files. Is there any other explanation of what may have been going on?

The drive seems OK and I can find nothing altered in the files.

The only recent changes to the computer is that I installed a MagicJack, (phone accessory) and a program called MediaRing Talk, which required changes to the registry, and restart.

Is there any way to determine if any of the files were accessed?

I right clicked the drive and looked at "properties" and it indicated when the files were created, but "properties" does not indicate "Last accessed".

Are there any log files I can look at in the computer see if anything was opened on this drive?

I have a very high quality (and very old) Yamaha Stereo Receiver model R 100. It is a beautifully built unit and surely was ahead of its time, and I think very worth repairing.

I am skilled in electronics repair, but do not want to begin this job without at least a schematic, due to the densely packed circuitry.

I am looking for a comprehensive listing of the new HDTV channels and the corresponding frequencies of each.

Are they all grouped in one large chunk of the spectrum, or are there multiple "bands" such as we now have with the NTSC broadcast channels?

Do all of the ATSC broadcast channels have the same bandwidth, or are there variations to allow for different content, complexity and / or quality?

Will some of the current frequencies be re-assigned to the new ATSC channels?

If you are a Nurse, or Nutritionist, or Elderly Healthcare Giver; This question is particularly directed to you. Please help us help a good friend.

Her problem began with weight loss, and an inability to eat without severe discomfort. Her condition continued to worsen to the point where she could only tolerate water and fruit drinks.

Now she is saying she would like to try some solid foods again, and we are wondering which SPECIFIC foods are easiest to digest, and least likely to cause abdominal discomfort.

Thus far, she has been able to have some seedless grapes, and applesauce, without discomfort, and just now tried some plain shredded wheat. She would like to try to have eggs to get some protein and perhaps something like brocolli and or other vegetables.

Any and all advice will be appreciated as to which foods are easiest to digest, and which foods to avoid.

Please do not advise seeking medical intervention because she steadfastly refuses any, as it is against her religion. We will respect her request, and try to help her in any way she will allow.

There are several brands of wire staple guns in the stores, and I would appreciate hearing your comments about them.

For many years, I have used the GB brand of plastic staples, with a good old hammer. (I prefer the plastic ones because they are easy to remove if you need to move a wire.)

But now I am tempted to buy one of the hand operated staple guns, because they look like they would save some time.

There are several competing brands to choose from, and wonder which brand you think is best from your experience ?

My local stores carry the Greenlee, and the GB brand, and I think there is yet one other.

Every year, just as the tomatoes are beginning to ripen, the squirrels strip them from the vines, and carry them away. How can I prevent this?

I am hoping I can somehow make them un-desirable to squirrels, by spraying something on them.

My friend, who has Windows XP Professional installed, recently encountered a problem with encrypted documents. For security reasons, he used the built-in encryption to protect his files.

The computer crashed, so he reinstalled Windows. Now he can’t open his encrypted files. The backups were useless. They’re still on the computer, but he can’t do anything with them. Can you help him?

Is it possible to back up encryption keys, particularly in Windows? Thanks.

Some setting must have been accidentally changed, becuase the computer used to open a dialog box asking what action I wanted to take.

I used to click on the "Take No Action" button, and then proceed to do what I wanted to do.

But now, when I insert a Flash drive, the computer immediately begins copying the files to somewhere and it does not even tell me where.

I would like to have it behave as it did previously, or even better yet, to automatically "Take no Action" without that dialog box opening each time.

I tried to go to the drive's "PROPERTIES", and clicked the Autoplay tab, and then selected "TAKE NO ACTION" >> APPLY >> OK , and I thought this would fix the problem, but it did not.

Can you please help me change this annoying settings problem ?

My neighbor was sitting on his deck, when a sudden gust of wind blew a big wad of the stuff, off his roof, and it hit him in the face.

The next morning he lost his voice and could only speak in a whisper, as in LARYNGITIS, and had some slight dificulty in exhaling, especially while trying to speak. He also has the feeling that he needs to clear his throat, but coughing (on purpose) does not produce any significant amount of phlegm.

He otherwise feels fine, has no pain involved with speaking, and his doctor could not find anything wrong, and prescribed some steroids. There has been no change in a month's time.

I know many people are allergic to the Oak pollen, but he said he has no allergies.

Does anyone know if Oak Tree Pollen could produce such effects, if a LARGE DOSE of it was accidentally inhaled?

Has anything like this happend to anyone else ?
