I am 29, live in CA. I am a stay at home mom of 2 boys ages eight & six. Love my boys & my husband. I love music. I am a huge fan of Rise Against, Mindless Self Indulgence, My Chemical Romance, The Used, Kanon Wakeshima & Tommy Heavenly6 just to name a few. : ) I also Love me some Anime! <3

  • Help me name my new pets?

I got a pair of finches for my birthday & I haven't been able to name them. One is black & white and is a boy and the other is brown & white and is a girl. I wanted to name them Wi & Fi but my kids don't like those names. We all like anime a lot so I was thinking a character name would be cool.

    something like:

    Ciel

    Grell

    Miromi

    Yuki

    Ed

    Lenalee

    Lavi

something like that... short names are preferred.

  • allergy or psychosomatic?

I used to drink tea when I was younger but for some reason I stopped drinking it & didn't like it anymore. It was so long ago I can't even remember why I stopped drinking it. I have recently tried tea again and I really like the flavor but when I drink it my throat feels tight. I am wondering if it is an allergic reaction or psychosomatic from thinking I didn't like it for so long. I can only drink a few sips before my throat hurts. So is it an allergy or psychosomatic?

  • I need help deciding which path to take?

I want to become an FBI agent but I know that it can be quite difficult, so I was considering joining the national guards. My worries with this career path is I have a short amount of time to get in & get my masters degree & get accepted into Quantico before the deadline (Iam almost 29 & you can't be over 36 in the FBI). I also worry I may not even be accepted into the guards because I have a medical issue (TMJ in my jaw) which I could get a waiver for that, but that's a lot of ifs & maybes.

My other career choice is pastry chef, which I really love to do. The problem with this career path is the fact that there are no schools in my area that offer this program in my budget & the town I live in is already over saturated with dessert shops. I have been a stay at home mom for so long & the unemployment rate is really high here so I can't even find a job as a dish washer where I live.

I love both these career paths but I can't decide which way to go. What do you think?

  • my dog has suddenly started to attack my children unprovoked, why?

We adopted our dog a few months ago from the local animal shelter. She is really possessive of toys and my husband & I, however the times she has bitten my children it seems it was for no reason at all. Today my son was sitting on the couch and my dog woke up and after a few minutes lunged across the couch and bit my son's face! She almost took his eye out for no reason and she did the exact same thing last night to my older son. I am not sure what I should do here... Should I take her back to the pound? I mean ultimately my kids come first but we have all fallen in love with our new doggy, but I can't have he hurting my children. Why is she doing this & what can I do to prevent it from happening again?

  • I need help with my new doggy?

We just adopted a 2 year old, female, wire hair mix from the pound.... she is perfectly trained in all ways except one.

When we take her on walks she freaks out at all other dogs & is barely leashed trained.

Right now we kind of live in a small place but in a year or so we wanted to get a place with a large yard & then get a puppy, but we worry with her current attitude towards other dogs if that will even be possible.

She is great with kids & cats but totally goes ballistic when she sees other dogs of any size.

So is there any way to teach my old dog new tricks? Can we train her to get along with other dogs?

  • Should I be going to school for this degree?

The degree is TA or full teaching/child development. I live in CA and I know there are absolutely no jobs in this filed but here's why I am thinking of this degree...

    - My husband just got laid off from the worst job ever, we are both on welfare for the moment. He plans to only go to school for the semester & then join the military.

    - The welfare program we are on makes me choose from a list of degrees or certificates (such as: agriculture, welding, forklift operator, nursing & the one I chose)

    - I know nursing would be the better option but I am horrible at remembering medical terms, anatomy & chemistry.

So i guess should I be taking the teaching program despite the futility? Are there jobs in this field in other states besides CA? If you live outside CA can you let me know what the market is for teachers in your sate?

  • Should I keep my hair long or get a fresh new pixie cut?

I have been growing my hair out for a couple years but just recently made the mistake of cutting my bangs (kind of thick, short & blunt) which I don't like too much. I could always wait a couple months & then fix my bangs at least & then grow them out. The pixie cut would look good on me (I think) but it would just be a temporary stage before growing my hair out again.

    What do you guys think?

This would be the kind of pixie cut I would want...

This is me with my current cut... I don't always look so pudgy tho.

  • what's wrong with my CAT?

We have had out cat for over 2 years but in the past week or two she has been acting out. She's always been a good cat, but lately she's been shreding papers, bags in my closet, all things she knows is bad. She has been attacking our feet when we walk past her & she just bit my sons arm for sitting on the couch next to her (he didn't hurt her at all).

She is up to date on all her shots too.

We did put her on a diet recently because the vet said she was a couple pounds over weight. We started cutting her food to one bowl once a day versus one bowl twice daily, this follows the food guidelines on the bag of food we buy for her as well. But we started that a couple months ago.

Help please? What is wrong with my cat?

  • can mold in my apartment be causing my son's bronchitis?

My 4 year old son has had bronchitis for 3 weeks now. He had a bad cough for 3 weeks, we tried to treat it with over the counter cough syrup before having to take him to the doctor & getting him put on antibiotics.

We have mold growing in every window in our apartment, in our bathroom & along the front door frame. I try to keep it clean with beach water but seeing as that only cleans the surface it just comes right back. We have a "working" fan in our bathroom & over our stove. I run both fans whenever I do dishes or anyone in the apartment takes showers, we also keep both back windows opened slightly for fresh air. Still can't get rid of the mold.

Also the last time I moved my bed there was mold growing up the wall from the carpet, a really furry green kind (gag btw). The rest of the mold is black and speckled looking. Any information would be helpful.

The apartment management won't do anything about the mold & I can't afford to move for 6 more months.

  • looking for a new good book, help?

I like sci-fi & fiction genres mainly. Some of my favorite authors are: Christopher Moore, Neil Gaiman, Roger Zelazny, Charles Stross & Charlaine Harris. Mainly Gaiman & Moore so suggestions in those genres would be nice. Thanks! :)

  • overnight pay on out of town trips?

Should you be paid for the overnight part of the trip as well, if it is mandatory, or only the travel & and actual work part of it? And I am not counting the cost of the hotel room but actual pay.

  • do late fees expire when it comes to rent?

We incurred a late fee in Sept.'09 but the property management didn't informed us until last month. We have a new property management & they say we got this late fee back in Sept. & we owe them the late fee plus interest.

We were never informed of this late fee to begin with plus we have to pay with money orders & the money order is dated the 31st of Aug. Not to mention between Aug. 2009 & Jan. 2010 we overpaid $8 extra a month making it a total of $48 extra which would technically cover almost the whole thing.

But we didn't respond to the first letter they sent last month so now they are trying to charge us an additional late rent fee on top of the original plus the interest. It is adding up to $95 which the original late fee was only $35. They are charging $20 in interest and they raised the late fees to $40 without informing me & that's where the additional $4o comes in.

I don't know how to fight this. They said I should have got receipts when I turned in my rent but our managers office is only open 3 hours a day & we usually just drop it off in the drop off slot, plus the previous property management (the one charging the late fee) told us that the money orders were our receipt & wouldn't print one out for us when we did turn it in there.

I have written a letter of intent & made copies of all my receipts but is it enough? Can they still charge me the new late fee & interest?

  • Should I join the army instead of my Husband?

My husband got screwed by a recruiter so now he has to get college credits to join, his diploma isn't valid. I already have a diploma so I could join now but I guess I am a bit nervous. We have two kids & I've been a stay at home mom for almost 6 years now. The army would help with training so going back to work for me would be easier, but leaving my kids for basic then to go overseas worries me. Some friendly advice would be nice?

  • how do i handle my son's bully?

Should I call the school? Try to speak with the teacher? btw my son is only 5 years old & is in kindergarten. This is his first year of school, before this he was at home with me. He does have a younger brother & plenty of younger cousins. So my son isn't the bully type (more a protective type) & he doesn't know how to handle the bully.

Should I tell him to fight back or report the bully to the teacher?

So far most the incidents are tearing pictures up, unzipping his backpack & throwing his lunch on the floor. My son actually missed lunch today because of this kid & it was pizza day no less!

  • Need to find a good home for a big adult mix breed dog?

My brother & sister-in-law moved to a smaller place, leaving their 3 year old mix breed, large, female dog with a cousin. She is very sweet & gets along well with kids but they can't find a home for her. My cousins had no problems keeping her but recently their landlord said they had to get rid of her as well. Obviously a no kill shelter would be the next choice but when my brother got her she had already spent a 1 and a half in a kennel. We live in the Central Valley in CA, about an hour and a half south of San Francisco. Any suggestions?

  • My kitten has a little limp...?

It is a very slight limp in her right leg. It only happens when she is walking at a medium pace not when she jumps around or when she is stalking a toy. We just got her yesterday & I know we haven't injured her in any way. She was abandoned by her mother & a neighbor rescued her & bottle fed her until she was old enough to live with my family. Can this limp be a birth defect or an injury? Should I take her to an emergency vet appointment or wait for her first regular visit?

  • Non-stick Cookware...?

My non-stick Griddle has burnt on grease that I can't get off... I use Pam with it even though the directions say to never use any oil or non-stick spay on it but if I don't use the spay my pancakes won't come up. How do I get the burnt grease off & should I keep using the Pam on my non-stick cookware or not?
