Levity in divorce...?
If you're over your ex... what's the most ironic/funny divorce moment you've had, aka. awakening to your better off story?

1 AnswerPrimary & Secondary Education1 decade agoAre there any grants available for single mom's, 35 and over, not teaching in low-income area?
I'm a teacher but unable to teach until I update my certification. I let it lapse b/c I was married and teaching in another state. Long story short, husband left me, I had to move back to NY, and I'm working on taking 12 credits (post-masters) to get my certifications back. This is only over the summer, and I start next week. I'm not sure if I would qualify for a Pell Grant or not? And if there are any private NY grants people may know of. Thanks...
2 AnswersFinancial Aid1 decade agoHow to start in nursing?
I have a Master's in Elementary Education, and a BA in Journalism. I'm thinking of a career change to nursing and wondering what route to go to become an RN. Do I need to another Bachelors degree, minus some courses I'd obviously already have, or is there a better route?
2 AnswersHealth Care1 decade agoHow long after divorce can you get back on your feet again?
My husband cheated and lied, and now is lying to everyone to not look like the person he actually is, sad. I'm actually over him at this point but truly disappointed in my life and how little I can proved for my child at this point. My ex has had me in court for the last year and I'm broke. I also can't find a job anywhere (and I have 15years work experience 8 in teaching (with masters) and 7 in business. It's so bad (due to husband not paying anything...please don't advise on this) that my young child and i have had to move in with my mother. Unfortunately my mother also has issues which is causing me even more stress. I'm a broke, well educated single mom who can't find a job anywhere! How do you move on with your life when you're stuck back in your mother's home? I'm willing to work in any job at this point (within reason) and can't find a damn thing!!
5 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoWhat is the difference between being a real estate salesperson and a broker in New York?
I'm looking up info on taking a course to get licensed and getting pretty confused. One of my friends said she just took a course that was 90 hours, took/passed test, and is now a broker. But she didn't work as a sales person first, which apparently is a requirement for a year.
I also am a single mom with a toddler so I would need to do online courses. Does anyone have a recommendation for an online course?
3 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoWhat to do with all of our pictures now that we're divorced?
I have a 17 month old son, so I'm saving our wedding album for him. But I have a ton of pics from our marriage and baby photos on my computer. It would take too long to go through and delete each one, and probably would be to painful. Should I download them to an external hard drive and than take off my computer? Would it be strange to leave these on my computer? I still want to have all the pics of my son.

2 AnswersNew York City1 decade agoOne month to go until the divorce goes through. My soon to be ex is already seeing someone and decided?
I needed to know he was sleeping with someone new. He cheated on me (emotionally) while I was pregnant, and right after our child was born. He was basically dating a couple different women. I don't know if the consummated or not. I'm still so heart broken. I'm starting to wonder if I'll ever get over this. I push forward everyday trying to move on, but he's ruined my life, career and my finances. It is still hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that someone I loved so much would do all of this to me. And he's equally awful to me now. He's manipulating facts, playing the victim, and using our child to get to me. I am exhausted from being a single mom, trying to recover my life, and move on. How long did it take you to recover, if you have been through something similar?
4 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoHow to break of something relatively new, without hurting his feelings (post-divorce)?
i've been dating a guy for the past 3 months, although we only see each other about 2x a month (i'm a single mom and it's all i have wanted to invest post-divorce). he's been pushing me to have a serious relationship and i don't want one at this point in my life; i'm focused on my son, and many, many other things. i made this very clear to him, but he just doesn't seem to get it (he keeps asking what kind of house he should buy, and telling me that i should interview for a new job where he lives... he's freaking me out). he also keeps trying to impress me with his money, and i guess, that he's willing to commit. i don't know how to tell him that his goals are not mine. any advice on how to let him down without bruising his ego?

Does anyone know the best time to leave in the morning to avoid traffic? Taking 440 route and Bayonne Br. thanks.
1 AnswerCommuting1 decade agoMy soon to be ex-husband uses his daily calls with our son to get to me?
How do I stop this? Mind you our son is only 16 months old, but our court papers say I need to give open communication and honestly I want my son to hear his dad's voice, same as I want my son to hear mine when he's at his dad on weekends. But my soon to be ex (what do you call them during this stage anyway) uses the end of each call to criticize, manipulate, insult and demean me in general. If I don't let these conversations play out than he gets worked up for days and it starts affecting the calls when my son can hear. So I basically try to smooth things over and get whatever he's worked up about resolved. Problem is, this is stressing me out and causing me so much anxiety. Every time I feel like I'm starting to feel better, wham my ex is at me again. Helpful advice please?
