What is the very best vacation for a toddler?
My son is turning 2 and is interested in both Disneyland and the Beach. He has never been to either one. Theoretically we could do both Disneyland and the beach in one trip, but perhaps there is an even better family vacation? Also, how long is the ideal trip for a toddler. Is three nights too many? Should we do two nights at the beach for his birthday and two nights at Disneyland this fall?
3 AnswersOther - Destinations8 years agoWhere to stay in Pismo beach area California?
Two adults and one toddler - we regularly share a queen bed. We'd like to stay on the beach or within walking distance if possible - especially for afternoon naps. We would like to spend no more than $200/night, less would be wonderful.
Are there other beaches in the area that would be better with a toddler? We like Moonstone and Morro as well.
2 AnswersLos Angeles8 years agoWhy does my toddler have dry wrinkled hands?
My 21 month old has been sick with croup but has been drinking pretty well I think. he hasn't been eating much and didn't sleep much for four days. Now he is doing better but his hands are dry and wrinkled. I thought this might be slight dehydration, but he has been drinking an alright amount and I don't see this listed as a symptom anywhere.
1 AnswerOther - Health8 years agoWhere can I get the full story on Hestia?
Can you recommend any website and/or books that would give a full account of her?
I am particularly interested in her myth-story, but information on how she was worshiped, particularly specific ceremony information would also be good. I know she was not mentioned much, but I've heard parts of several myths involving her.
1 AnswerMythology & Folklore8 years agoDog has had diarrhea for 2 days, starting to have blood and now vomiting?
My grandmother can't afford to take her dog to the vet. The dog has had diarrhea for 2 full days, she now has some blood in the stool. She vomited a few minutes ago and has a fever. The stool is dark to black and tarry, a few times it was yellowish. She also has been shaking like she might have chills.
It sounds to me like she might have worms, but she has been taking interceptor and is up to date with all of her vaccinations and anti-flea and tick meds.
I would not discount the possibility that the neighbor has poisoned the dog.
My husband and I can afford a visit to the vet but not surgery. What should we do?
Can I give the dog Tylenol for her fever?
10 AnswersDogs8 years agoHow to get the Mormon monkey of my back. . .?
I grew up Mormon, but left the church when I became an adult. I am now practicing another religion and have no interest in being Mormon. However, I am still friends with some Mormons whom I grew up with. My grandmother is also Mormon.
There is at least one woman being sent to me regularly to get me to go back to church. Is there a tactful way to tell convince her that I won't be going to her church without telling her about my religion?
Simply telling her that I won't be going back to her church has not been working - she is the Bishop's wife and apparently he hasn't given her the okay to give up on me yet.
14 AnswersEtiquette8 years agoComing out of the broom closet?
I am a witch. I don't care if you like it or not, so if you are interested in converting me to your religion you can stop right there and navigate to another page.
I have been a witch for almost ten years, I love my religion. I have been in the broom closet because I have family and in-laws who would probably not be okay with this (particularly the in-laws, Southern Baptists).
I don't like not being open about my religion because I adore it and the positive influence it has had on all aspects of my life. Now I have children and desperately want to share my religion with them. Not to force them to believe as I do, but because it is a large and important part of my life.
I am hoping that you all might share with me your worst-case scenarios. Do the benefits outweigh the costs?
My husbands family has little to do with us as it is. I don't know why, aside from the fact that my mother in law has legitimate mental health problems. My hope is that his family will treat my children better than they treat us; like they are part of the family. Would coming out of the broom closet jeopardize their chances at familial ties to a point that the value we would gain from being open would be negated?

7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoQuick alternative to embroidery?
I am making coffee cozies for all of my husbands co-workers (about 30 people) and would like to put their names on the coffee cozies, but I don't think I have time to embroider them by hand.
Is there a way to embroider a name on with a regular sewing machine? or something else that would be permanent?
I don't want to use puff paint or glitter glue because these will peel quickly, especially with hot drink splashing on it.
1 AnswerHobbies & Crafts8 years agoGifts for Co-Workers that are quick to sew?
My husband and I don't have a lot of money, but we still want to give his co-workers a little gift. (If he doesn't he'll risk being labeled a humbug as it's a very Christian-dominant business). So, I bought a bolt of fabric today at my local thrift shop for $3 and would like to sew a little something for everyone, if I calculated correctly I should have about 1/2 yd per person.
Do you know of anything small that could be sewn quickly in bulk - for about 35 people? Thank you so much for you help!
2 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)8 years agoPossibly pregnant, but. . .?
I am two weeks late, but have been spotting - I did have some spotting in my first pregnancy aside from implantation bleeding, but not like this. I have taken a couple of tests, they have come back negative. The kicker is that my husband, my mother and I would ALL swear I was pregnant, and I felt like I "knew" before I took the tests. I have heard that some people don't test positive for as much as three months into the pregnancy. Has anyone had a similar situation and would I be crazy to go to my ObGyn for a blood test?
1 AnswerPregnancy9 years agoHow do auskin pelts compare to ecowool?
I am buying a skin for my 15 month old son to sleep on, and potentially one for my own bed. Ecowool is about four times as expensive as the auskin rugs that they are selling at Costco. I don't know what chemicals Auskin uses to tan their skins, I know Ecowool uses "natural" things. . .I think even organic.
Has anyone compared the two? Is it wort the money to buy an Ecowool rug?
I recognize this as a purchase that will last a lifetime, so I am willing to save up and dole out the extra cash if it will truly be worth it.

I won't be eating it, so I don't care what's in it or how it tastes. I just want it to LOOK like bacon.

If I dipped a flower in Varathane, would it seal it well enough to prevent it from rotting?
2 AnswersOther - Science9 years agoCan I use varnish or laquer to preserve a flower?
I want to put my fresh flower onto a little piece of wood and put a varnish or laquer over it to preserve it, but I don't know if this will still allow air to get in and rot the flower. I would rather not use resin if that is at all possible.

5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoMormonism, what does the peanut gallery think?
I grew up Mormon, left because I have issues with Mormon beliefs, especially those involving polygeny.
I have considered rejoining because I feel that it may be a good place for my son to grow up, because of the good practices, despite the bad.
As a matter of personal curiosity and nothing more, what are your thoughts?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoHow to size a menstrual cup?
I have had a vaginal birth, so I ordered the MeLuna medium and large, to see which one I needed. The problem? They are BOTH too large. They both hang out of me when they're in there right.
I would love to be able to use a cup, but now I'm not sure what to do. The small is only 3 mm shorter than the medium, so I think I might need the mini-cup to prevent sliding. Is there any chance that the mini cup might fit me?
I can't afford to keep purchasing cups and not know which size I truly need.
3 AnswersWomen's Health9 years agoHow long will it take my doctor to schedule my gallbladder surgery after my ultrasound?
My ultrasound is the day after tomorrow, but I'm already 'dying' in pain. I won't be able to last months, or even weeks. . .
How long does one usually have to wait between the ultrasound and the surgery - my bile duct or whatever it's called is already blocked, judging from my symptoms.

I was told to drink apple juice for a medical condition, but I hate (HATE, hate, HATE) the taste. What can I add to it to make it taste better, or at least different?
NO ALCOHOL OR CAFFEINE.
