My daughter asked me this - tried to come up with something like

wind, pressure systems - but the uniformity of the waves and swells when we are at the beach or out on the boat - pose an interesting question - had to tell her - "I don't really know - we'll look it up"

I'm doing some tile/stone work at my home's entry

thought it would be cool to make a design using 4 key words or short phrases

Here are four I'm thinking about now:

Truth

Knowledge

Peace

Freedom

optional words: Family, Love, Honor, - that kinda thing - of course all 4 would have to have a group meaning in some way - contrast or link

still working out the whole idea thing -

what words are most meaningful to you -

considering using - Latin - or - Greek lettering

four quadrant circle - with four scenes that go with each word -

What would you do?

I wouldn't even mind borrowing ideas from Literature - just don't want to borrow from the U.S. Navy or Marines - or say Welcome - you get the idea - something unique and meaningful

I know stop eating crap - well I'm going on a "nearly" vegetarian diet - - - only fish and poultry - nothing fried - very low fat diet - no dairy products

I'm riding a bike about 45 minutes a day - each morning and again in the evening

Any other ideas?

I think that just seems absurd - science is a process of believing in evidence - observations -

does that mean we have faith in evidence and observation or is that a rediculous statement?

what do you think?

or is allowing the questioning process - knowledge a sure fire way for those of religions to remove themselves from faith and embrace knowledge and science???

Even if only 1 is right - doesn't that mean that the majority of humanity is currently dilusional???

I've often seen responses on this forum - stating how Satan appears in many forms - fear him - etc. etc. Don't meditate - satan will send you to hell

How do you deal with FEAR? All faiths??? Is it just me or does Christianity dwell on the concept of fear. I know as a child brought up in a christian home - we were taught to fear God's wrath and Satan's temptations and Hell's sulphorous fire . . .

Seems to me dictators use the same approach.

Do you see a similarity also???

How does the body's ability to repair itself or modern medicine fall under the concept of a miracle?

Is this what the preachers say now - that antibiotics and bypasses are miracles - - - who buys that nonsense?

Do those people that believe in God(s), devils, demons, angels and or ghosts also believe in aliens, alien abductions and flying saucers? Do you have faith in one, however need evidence for the other?

Or is it the reverse? Do more agnostics/atheists believe in aliens, alien abductions and flying saucers?

Do you think there is a correlation / relationship between either of these?

I'm trying to get information about what drives a person to various differing religions - I think the transition from one to another might be a key to understanding this driving force.

I am pretty much where I was when I started on here, however I have learned a lot about human nature - fringe - ignorance - found some pretty good humor. I've even learned quite a bit about several different religions on here.

Serious Question: I've always wondered why Jewish Fundamentalists are so restricted re: separating dairy from meat, no shell fish, no pork, etc. (same words from the Bible)

Old testament statements re: women's roles - not inheriting, subserviant, conservative clothing etc.

However many modern Christians seem OK with modern standards - bar-b-que's, fish frys, women in power???

Is Leviticus just old fashioned nonsense or is the word of God being stretched here for convenience. Seems like an interesting variance re: application of the same books in the bible and interpretation.
