More about boundaries/Consequences?
What if your spouse lied, taking money without saying anything about a big purchase, that they spent time planning and didn't tell you about it, something selfish that was just for them. But you had just recently agreed to save money and not spend it. Without being vindictive, or mean, how would you handle that? Not to leave the person, but to deal with the betrayal even if they turn around and blame it on you as a justification for their own bad behavior. Is there anything to do in that situation? I'm really not finding one.
7 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoBoundaries and Consequences?
I have no problems setting boundaries, but I get lost in setting consequences. For example, if someone is yelling at me, I can set the consequence of walking out of the room until they calm down. But what kind of consequences are there for not following through on agreements, or if someone lies to you? I don't want to be mean or vindictive, but I want some tools to say "I notice you did not follow through on your agreement with me, so now I will......." what is fair? And about lying too? How do you set healthy consequences for these? Is there some sort of formula to this that might help?
12 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoWhat can I do about this with husband?
Lately, anytime I've had an issue with my husband, he starts saying all these off base comments about me. Things like "I think something is seriously wrong with you", or how I have no self-esteem, etc... NOTHING is wrong with me, I am not mentally ill and I am perfectly rational. My self-esteem is just fine too other than my dealings with him as none of our problems are getting addressed, but I hear at length about everything he thinks is wrong with me. He doesn't act like that if we are getting along, only if I bring up something that is troubling me, then the things that he says to me are hurtful. How can I communicate when things are like this? I don't want to keep hearing how I'm "mentally ill", I want resolution to the problems that are bothering me, the problems in themselves are not major, but enough that I feel the need for resolution to them, but the way they are being creates big problems.

11 AnswersParenting1 decade agoControversial, but still have to put it out there....?
I've heard so much about Americans being upset about the immigrants and all the problems they think they cause. Well, how do you think about it when you have to remember that we are all immigrants here? Even the native American was not indigenous to America, but they would be the closest to the TRUE American race, every other one of us, no matter how long our families lived here, ARE immigrants. So you are actually complaining about something your family was to begin with - an immigrant. So, why do you feel it's okay to complain about the new immigrants coming over today as if you aren't one yourself?
