Why is it OK to practice Atheism in school?
Atheism is forced on our students. No one can mention God. The religion of Atheism is being promoted by public school; a violation of the establishment clause.
26 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do Atheists think they are smart if they can't conceive of things beyond sciences ability to measure it?
Like God, Heaven, spirit world,
do you think "it can't be proven so it must not be true" is smart or thoughtful?
34 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf Congress can't make laws restricting the free exercise of Religion, then why can't we pray in schools?
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof...

34 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCan all Christians agree that Mormons are sincere in their faith in Jesus Christ?
I know some of you think Mormons worship a false God, a false Jesus Christ or even Satan, but do you not think that Mormons are sincere in their faith? That Mormons believe they follow Christ even though you feel they are deceived. Don’t you think Mormons think they are following Christ to the best of their ability? Mormons believe differently than you do on the nature of God and the Godhead, but are Mormon prayers to God not sincere, and do you believe God ignores their prayers because they have been fooled by Satan or men?
Full disclosure: I am LDS or Mormon if you prefer and I believe the LDS faith and it’s teachings on the nature of God and the Godhead.
So are Mormons not sincere and does God hear and answer Mormon prayers?

4 AnswersElections1 decade agoDoes Christmas Music increase good feelings through the Holy Spirit?
Assuming you believe in the Holy Ghost and assuming you believe music can be a prayer to God (depending on its message). Do you believe that the power of the Holy Spirit increases at Christmas time because of the increase in prayers to God (in the form of Christmas carols/carolers, etc.)?
I am part of 3 Christmas Choirs and I feel a definite increase in the Christmas Spirit this year -- do you feel the same?

1 AnswerReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoCatholics, Mormons, Evangelicals, Muslims, Atheists, Jews, J. W., etc, would you agree that Romney's speech..
...was one of the best speeches on "American Religious Freedom" given in the last 100 years?
His speech hardly touched on any Mormon Doctrine and I think rightly so because as Mitt pointed out – there should be no religious test for public office. I mean if you what to hear about Mormon beliefs just stop those young men and women on bikes or go to www.mormon.org or www.lds.org
Anyway what did you think about his speech from a religious freedom angle?

18 AnswersGlobal Warming1 decade agoDo your tax dollars go to the Democratic National Committee?
Take for example California:
CA employs roughly 308,000 teachers who pay $200.00 / year to the NEA ($700.00 to the CTA – California union)
So $61,600,000 dollars of California taxes go directly to the national teachers union.
Of that over 2 million dollars was given to the DNC (less than 300,000 was given to the RNC) This does not include soft money.
And do you like the fact that your tax dollars provides all funds for the education unions – together the CTA and NEA receives about $277,200,000.00 from California tax payers every year. This money supports (directly or in soft money) mostly Democratic agendas such as:
No school vouchers http://www.nea.org/vouchers/index.html
Gay and lesbian issues education http://www.nea.org/schoolsafety/glbt.html
Socialized Medicine http://www.cta.org/issues/other/Health+Care+Issues...

4 AnswersElections1 decade agoEvangelicals who revile against LDS/Mormons?
…and call us blasphemers and liars (so not all Evangelicals – just the ones who persecute the Saints in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.)
How do you justify your actions/words with regard to these 2 scriptures below (admittedly taken out of context after a fashion) – but the spirit of these scriptures lends itself to saying that those who preach goodness and do good to others is on the side of the Lord?
Mark 9:40 -- For he that is not against us is on our part.
Luke 9:50 -- And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.
The LDS church does much good in the world and its members are known world-wide as good “family” people and good members of society (with very few notable exceptions).
So are you acting against the principles of these 2 scriptures and if not, how do you justify your actions?
Thanks

11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIs writing a book about the Bible adding to it?
If one writes a companion book explaining parts of the Bible is that adding to it?
If the Bible is retranslated and it reads differently than the last translation is that adding and subtracting to the Bible?
Because you find the same phrase in Deuteronomy http://scriptures.lds.org/en/deut/4/2#2 is everything after it a blasphemic addition?
This is a question about logic not rhetoric -- Please answer the question and support your logic. (of course you can do what you want but you might be ignored)
Will you please state which translation of the Bible you read and/or believe is the most correct translation?
I am a Mormon and I know what some of you think about the Book of Mormon so you can ignore it for this question so you can expound your logic on the question.
Again I plead for serious logical answers – thanks

10 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoI see Questions labeling Mormons / LDS as Non-Christian so I want to ask - Are you Christian and Christlike?
Have you tried comparing your life to the Beatitudes?
Poor in Spirit – not prideful – Humble before God and neighbors
Mourners who long to be comforted by the Holy Spirit
Meek – steadfast in following Christ – unshaken in your faith – yet not boastful in your ability to follow Christ.
Hunger and Thirst after righteousness – a desire for truth and to do good continually
Merciful – kind in your rebukes of others – forgiving all (not to the point of robbing justice)
Pure in heart – Man/woman of your word –chaste – intending to do good always
Peacemaker – Kind in word and deed – shunning contention (not shunning competition)
Calm in the face of persecution and revilings
I see that I have a lot to work on myself.
BTW I am Mormon and I consider myself Christian trying to become Christ-like

5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWas Genesis God's way of writing : Creation for Dummies?
I wrote this in another answer and thought it was a good question.
I believe in God and that He created the Universe -- but He wrote the creation story very simple and left out all the hard DNA/plate tectonics info. and went for more spiritual content instead of scienctific clarity.
what do you think?

2 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoWho can make the best religious haiku?
Here are the rules:
Haiku 5-7-5 (if you need more explanation – look it up)
Make a haiku that briefly (remember 5-7-5) explains your religion or a religion. Or an aspect of the religion
It does not have to be your religion but it cannot be anti or false interpretation of someone else’s religion.
State the religion: (ie. Seventh Day Adventists)
Then give us your haiku
The best one gets 10 points!!! – Excited – I know I am – good luck

15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo you want to know the results of counting the # of times Jesus Christ is mentioned at my LDS (Mormon) church
I counted today (Cheese and Rice asked if one of us would be willing to count -- so I did)
Here is my report:
It is the Sunday before Pioneer day (the day the first pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley) so I tract how many times the following were said:
