The Federal budget for 2011 is $3.8 trillion. The average revenue from Personal Income Tax is 45%. There are 300 million people in the US. The obligation of each person is therefore $5,700.

For a family of four it is $22,800. Other revenues include tariffs, fees, penalties, corp. income tax, payroll tax, estate tax, etc.

I feel that paying a percentage of income is unfair, because the amount payed per person is askew. The reality is; the federal government provides a product, it is unfair to charge one person more than another for the same product.

I don't make enough money to come up with $22,800 for my family. Our government needs to spend less to make it fair for all Americans.

Pertaining to this sex ed for kindergarten, their is a reason people under 18 are not allowed to vote. There is a reason people under 16 (in most states) aren't allowed to drive. There is a reason those under 21 are not allowed to consume alcohol. There is a reason every state has adopted a "legal age of consent" for sexual intercourse.

Anyone know the reason? It's the same for all of these restrictions.

The United States of America is a coalition of states. States are sovereign entities like countries. The U.S. Constitution is a treaty among these states allowing a central government to exercise certain powers which are enumerated (numbered) in the constitution.

My question: Why are these states allowing the government to exercise powers wich are not in the U.S. Constitution?

Republicans have been better for equal rights than Democrats have.

1. Lincoln was Republican.

2. The Republican controlled congress of the 60's voted in the Civil Rights Act.

3. The Democrat Party is traditionally the party of the KKK.

Lets consider the argument i heard two weeks ago that opening Anwar would only reduce the price of oil 42 cents per barrel. All Bush had to do was lift the Presidential moretorium on Anwar and it fell $20 a barrel. McCain chooses Palin and it drops another $20 a barrel.

Does anyone still hold to the principle that we can't drill our way out of this problem?

1. He says, "we can't drill our way out of this problem!" What problem is that. I see the problem as gas prices are too high. Global warming is not a problem and the 1st law of economics states "Prices fall with an increase in supply when the demand remains the same". If we drill here we can outpace the demand.

2. Raising taxes on corporations will negate any tax reduction on the lower wage earners. Another principle of economics is corporations pass the cost of taxes to the consumer through higher prices. If not higher prices, less workforce.
