I am at college and have just formed a group of friends here. I get on with everyone fine, except for one girl, who does not seem to like to talk to me. She constantly sets up events and does not invite me. This weekend I have arranged a party at my house, and wondered whether it would be acceptable to not invite her? Everyone else in our group is invited, and I don't feel like having her there because she doesn't like me (and I am starting to dislike her as a result). What should I do?

I have this guy friend who I've known for a while, and he is constantly falling for girls. He never seems to get over them and always messages them via facebook and text. At his most recent party he got drunk and told one of them that he loved her. Until recently, this didn't bother me, but I've realised that I like him... a lot. It's so frustrating because I can see that he still is pining after those other girls- whenever one of them doesn't show up at a party he gets really down. But I can't help it, he's so sweet to me and tells me I look beautiful and always talks to me and hangs out with me. At a recent party he was holding my hand and it's got me so confused. Then he'll go weeks and not even text me. I feel like I'm always in last place with him. What does this all mean? Does he like me? What should I do?

Recently a friend of mine confided in me that she's had a really poor relationship with her father. It was a major shock to me as she's always seemed so normal- she told me that her dad left her when she was little and told her when she was thirteen that she was a b**ch and he didn't care if she was dead. He then moved countries and she hasn't heard from him since. I was so shocked and told her that was abusive and that she needs to talk to a counsellor because lately it's been dragging her down so much. I think she's depressed, and everything seems to be making things worse. I just don't know what to do/ say to her. HELP!!

We're both young, but unlike her, I have to work two jobs (and still never seem to have enough money), don't have a boyfriend and haven't had one in ages, and am going through some really dodgy times with my family. On the other hand, she's got a really supportive family who are funding her education, is loved by pretty much every guy out there, and her dad just bought her a brand new car. I know its horrible and petty of me, but I can't help but feel incredibly jealous. I've just never had things handed to me, and I wish I could! I would love to have a family that cared that much, were supportive of my education and bought me gorgeous cars! It would be great to be adored by guys, but its just not happening. My best friend has started messing around with a guy who's best friends with her ex and is essentially a really horrible messy guy who does horrible things to people- he treats his girlfriends terribly. I told her she needs to be careful and end this before it gets painful and she agreed with me and did. but now they're at it again and I can't help but feel like she's being an idiot. We were talking the other day and she accused me of being uncaring and judgemental. I feel genuinly hurt because over the years I've supported her- when she got dumped by her ex, this horrible guy supported him and not her. I basically spent six months having her stay at my house while she tried to get over it- I've listened to her and been her friend when she was sad, and now I feel so hurt that she could turn around and snap at me. I'm angry and confused and don't know what to do. help!

I'm taking a short course in french and this guy sits with me every lecture. He's really lovely and kind and about two weeks ago he asked me what I was doing after class and I mentioned that I was going to get coffee and he said he knew a good place and whether I wanted to go with him. I said yes, but needed to sort out an argument with a friend and told him to meet me there. Unfortunately, the problem took a while to sort out and by the time I got there he'd left. The next class I apologised profusely and offered to make up for it and go out for coffee after class. He basically said he was busy and literally ran out after the lecture. It seemed fine for a while but now he doesn't sit with me. I don't get it- what is he thinking? What should I do to fix up the situation? He's a really nice person and I feel horrible enough but don't know if I'm making too big a deal out of the situation. HELP!!!

I've known my best friend for at least ten years and we're extremely close. However, her new boyfriend is someone that I struggle to get along with (due to past issues). Recently, she confronted me, saying that she hates that we don't talk about the situation, but my issue is that she often doesn't want to hear my honest opinion about him because she knows I don't think much of him as a person. What do I do? continue to ignore the situation like "the elephant in the room" or do I tell her what I feel, despite her not liking what she hears? Please help, I really need your advice!

I've known this guy for about five years and we're good friends, but he doesn't know that I've fallen for him. Unfortunately, he's already got a girlfriend, who also happens to be a friend of mine. About a year ago, I had an arguement about something with his girlfriend (it was a completely different issue), and he stopped talking to me, which obviously made me angry because he didn't bother to listen to my side of things. I have a fantastic friend, who is very dear to me, and just about one of the nicest people you could ever meet. Unfortunately, when she's drunk, she becomes clingy, easily angered and completely vile. I love her to bits, but I cannot stand it when she gets like this. I have a friend of mine whom I've known for a while, and it was like for a while she was constantly trying to hang onto me. Now she's the exact opposite- completely ignoring me! I hate it. recently, she had a party, and I didn't know anybody there. she basically ignored me until this huge group of people were hanging around me and we were talking. Case in point, its like she uses me- when people want to be around me, then she wants to too, but otherwise she doesn't care. We work together, so I obviously can't be unprofessional, but how do I deal with her? I hate being used.

Hi, I have a dear friend of mine, whom i love heaps. She's dating a guy at the moment who I don't like. Don't ask why, I just get a weird vibe from him. Anyway, we were all hanging out at a mutual friend's house on sunday, and while everybody was there, he and a friend started telling jokes about the KKK, using the N word. As a coloured person, I was really offended, and I think he noticed, because he turned around and started apologising. It was so awkward, because nobody said anything for a while. Frankly, I've never felt so disgusted before, but what annoyed me most is that my friend didn't say anything at all, she ignored it like everyone else. I just don't know what to do- I fell annoyed at my friend and her boyfriend, but I don't know how I'm supposed to act. Help?
