  • Who do I hire for this project? (involving driveway, gate & wall)?

I need to have a wall built in front of my house (to block off from a busy street) with an automatic gate for the entrance. The driveway also needs to be remade / slightly redesigned. I can't figure out what type of contractor I am supposed to hire for the job. I contacted a mason, but he said he only works with stone.

We currently have a partial wall that is cement/stucco - we want to extend the wall and add a stone finish (probably faux) over the whole thing. We are hoping to turn our driveway into a circle driveway with an automatic gate entrance. Who should I be looking for to do this job as it should probably all be planned and coordinated together so it all works since it's all going to be a tight fit.

If you know anyone specifically in the Boulder/Denver, CO area that would also be very useful! But just a general answer would help greatly too. Thanks everyone!

  • What to do about loose neighbourhood dogs?

I walk with my 16 month old son in our neighbourhood daily (In Southern California). I like dogs, but I hate owners who let their dog off leash. I fear for my safety (I'm 5'5 and 110 pounds), and for the safety of my son - especially since many friendly dogs are much less friendly with children.

I know it's illegal to have dogs off leash in a neighbourhood, but how can I stop it? & how can I protect myself and my son? Who do you report loose dogs to (especially since I usually don't stick around long enough to write down an address, or I have no clue where the dog came from).

I don't want to hurt these dogs, but I don't want to be defenseless either. Any advice?

  • To steam mop, or not to steam mop..?

I have new hardwood floors. I purchased a steam mop before they were installed thinking it would be great to sanitize my floors with no chemicals, and so easy! (bought the Eureka Enviro steamer, which on the box says good for use on wood floors).

However, my contractor said never to steam clean wood floors, and also not to use water to clean them. Here's where the confusion begins... he said the only safe thing to use on them is Bona. But Bona's main ingredient is water. It's just a solution you spray onto the floor, and then wipe clean. Why is this ok, but not steam cleaning, or just cleaning with a damp rag?

    Can anyone tell me?

  • Why does everyone recommend Bona to clean hardwood floors? (not water, or steam mop)?

So... I was told by my contractor not to use my steam mop (the enviro steamer) on my new hardwood floors (though the packaging states safe for wood floors). The company that makes my floors also said never to steam clean hardwood floors. They also said never to clean my floors with water.

Instead they both reccomended Bona, because it's "safe for wood floors".

What I don't understand is the difference. My steam mop leaves the floors completely dry when it's finished. Within 1 second of going over an area, it's completely dry. The cloth that cleans the floor is at most damp, never wet. & they say that hardwood floors shouldn't be cleaned with water, yet the main ingredient in Bona is water, which you spray onto your floors directly and then wipe up.

I'm just confused as to why this is better. Not only am I using water, but I'm also putting chemicals on my floor. The whole reason I bought my steam mop was to sanitize my floors, and keep chemicals off (since I have a 1 year old).

Can someone please explain this to me?

  • Looking for a good contractor to do major home renovations.?

How can I find a good / trustworthy contractor. I am inland from LA, California. I don't know anybody who has had any renovations done recently, and am not sure where to look for someone to complete the task (well). We're looking to redo floors of the whole house, bathrooms, and the kitchen.

What is the best way to find a GOOD contractor and/or designer. If you have any personal recommendations, sites, or places I should go, that is also welcome :)

  • Need help with hanging a shelf... need a way to fix my mistake...?

I accidentally used a drywall anchor that was too big for the screws I need to use. I haven't had any luck finding a screw that is thick enough to fit into the anchor, yet has a small enough / flat head to fit into the keyhole on the shelf.

I can't move the position of the shelf, as it's a corner shelf with 2 fixed keyholes...

The anchor I mistakenly used was a 1/2" drywall anchor. I was supposed to use 9mm x 32mm anchor with a 6mm x 25mm screw (head measuring 6 mm in diameter, and is flat).

  • I want a small dog that.... which kind should I look for?

I would like to adopt a dog from a shelter, so I don't want to be too picky about what I'm getting - however, my hubby hates dogs that shed, and I would prefer a dog under 10 pounds. We also live with his sister who hates mess, so shedding is pretty much a no-no, or at least needs to be minimal. What types of dogs should I be looking for?

  • Do poodle mixes shed?

I love poodles for their attitude, but more because they don't shed. My hubby is against having any pets in the house that shed, and I'm the one who has to clean it anyway. So I'm limited in the types of dogs I can get.... however, since I want to adopt from a shelter, I'm sure that there will not be any pure breed poodle puppies, or they will be few and far between. So I was wondering.... do poodle mixes also have this great non-shedding quality? Puggles, golden doodles, etc....

  • How can I become a dog trainer...?

I don't want to work at a guide dog school, but I would like to train guide dogs, and/or other assistance dogs. I am not looking to make a profit, just to do something good.

Is this a good idea? Is it possible? How would I go about doing it? Are there any laws for how they must be trained, or any other regulations I should know about?

I've been doing lots of research, but I haven't been able to find anything about becoming an independent guide dog trainer.

I will not be doing this in the United States or Canada. I would like to work in Brazil. If anyone has any experience, or knows anybody that can help me, I would appreciate a point in the right direction :) Thank you!!

  • Any good wedding ring tattoo ideas?

My hubby & I are looking into getting a wedding ring tattoo done on our anniversary. However... we're having trouble picking a design. We would prefer something that is just on the top, although a band isn't out of the question.

We would like it to be meaningful if we're going to incorperate symbols... but I am not very good at designing things like this..

I am Canadian / British, and he is American / Brazilian (anyway we could incorperate this?)

I also though of doing two little puzzle pieces that fit together...

If anyone has any good design ideas, or knows of anyplace I could see some wedding tattoos that have been done please help :) I've looked online and had trouble finding anything that isn't too crazy..

    Thanks in advance!

  • Where can I find some nice dresses & blouses?

I really like 'professional' looking dresses and blouses, but still somewhat casual - if that makes any sense...

    things like:

    http://www.yuniti.com/photoalbum.php?user=4&img=34... (2nd from the left's top)

    &

    http://www.80spurple.com/shop/products/detail/5066... (but a little longer)

I've liked some things at forever21 in the past and Victoria's Secret, but everything always fits so big and VS is a wee bit expensive for my current budget. I'm relatively small; 5'4 and ~107 pounds. I'm 19 years old and I want to look classy/conservative, but still cute and sexy. I love styles from the 50's and 70's.

Do you know where I could find some dresses & blouses to match my style, that aren't too expensive or big? (under $40 an item preferably)

  • How can I GAIN weight?

I know this question might annoy some of you - but I am being serious.

I've been skinny my whole life, but until recently it wasn't 'too skinny'. I am almost 5'5 and from grade 8 - 12 I weighed about 112-115 pounds.

I am not anorexic, and I eat a healthy amount of food (which I prepare myself because I like to cook), but for the last 1/4 of grade 12 till now (I've been out of school since June), I have been unable to get my weight above 104. I look gross thin, and no matter what I try I can't gain weight. I miss having boobs, and not being able to feel every single rib!

I try to exercise at least a little every day (go for a walk, sometimes jog a few times around a field close to here), although I mostly stay at home (not attending University yet, so I cook and clean, and sit on my bum a lot).

I eat breakfast everyday (usually is either; omelette's, hash-browns, cereal, yogurt, or waffles).

My lunch is usually left overs from dinner the night before.

Dinner (homemade pizza, pasta, pasta salad, stir fry, etc) always accompanied by a salad.

I love to bake so I usually make desert as well which is cheesecake or apple upside-down cake, sometimes with ice cream.

I have tea at night and occassionaly a small cup of coffee in the morning.

I just don't get what I can change to start gaining weight. I usually eat until I'm overly full (which has become less than I used to be able to eat). Oh and prior to this year I mostly ate microwavable food and lots of chocolate (although I still eat some) and I drank a lot more coffee. My apetite seems to have gotten smaller.. but I think I eat enough fatty things to be gaining weight anyway (cheese, yogurt, dessert, milk, etc), and I always try to stuff myself.

  • What do you think of my page?

    This is it here: http://yuniti.com/natalie

What do you think of it? and.. do you think it looks better than a myspace page?

    1 AnswerOther - Internet1 decade ago
  • Why does everyone believe the rumor that myspace trackers don't exist?

Tome never wrote a message saying that they don't exist or he would have made one - even if he HAD written that message, he has nothing to do with myspace anymore so why would it matter?

I know of a perfectly good one, that ISN'T a scam. It doesn't even put anything on your profile, or as for your login info.

    http://yuniti.com/myspace

So why must everyone insist that they don't work?
